Report from the Chair of Friends of Empowering the Future
The trustees and officers of Friends of Empowering the Future have met 5 times in the last 12 months. These meetings have taken place following the registration of Friends of Empowering the Future as a charity.
During this time the trustees and officers have been involved in: -

1) Setting up the infrastructure to ensure the smooth running of the charity
-
2) Being involved in fundraising and promotion of the charity
-
3) Visiting Empowering the Future in Tanzania and working with the subsistent farmers in sub-Saraha Tanzania in the Dodoma region. During this visit Jemma one of our project leads: -

a) Held community Seminars with women’s groups about budgeting
-
b) Sourced Insect proof sacks from funds we had raised and hosted a seminar on food security and issued the sacks to all who came
-
c) During our time there a plot of land became available which we were able to purchase from funds raised in the UK. This land will be used to build a Nursery School, volunteers’ accommodation during our visits and used as a demonstration plot on sustainable farming techniques.

d) The planting of tree saplings
As Chair I must give my thanks to all the trustees and officers for their input to enable the Friends of Empowering the Future to function so smoothly in this its first year.
