Re
rt for Annual General Meeti 29 March for the
ar endi
December 31 2025
We have had a very busy year with a numberof services in the synagogue, used by both the
Orthodox and Reform.
Notably we have had Student Friday night services with supper which have been Chabad led
followed by Shabbat moming servi￿5 a8ain Chabad led. followed by lunch. We have had Tu B'shvat
social evening and Purim servi￿5 followed by food, generously brought by Rabbi Zalman Lewis.
Following on from Purim we had a very suc￿Ssful Pesach Seder where we had 36 attendees. The
event was catered by members led by Danny Habel. It was joint event with the Reform communtty
where one Seder was in Portsmouth and one in &)uthampton. Members and friends of both
communities attended the Seder which was most convenient to them.
Jewish Small Communities Network has an annual 'One Shabbay. and this year we had successful
Friday night, where we took the service wlth supper afterwards.
We opened our Chanukah event to the communtty, and members of Southampton City Council. the
local Sikh community and the Bishop of Southampton attended. as well as the chair of the Interfaith
Group. Again well attended and well appreciated.
Our High Hofy Days are normally split between the Reform for Rosh Hashanah and the Orthodox for
Yom Kippur. However. this year fi)r Yom Kippur we invited the retired Reform Rabbi from
Boumemouth to lead us. following the Masorti tradition. We had a good attendance from both
communFttes.
Because the synagogue hall is now open without pews, but chairs and a moveable bimah, we are
able to use it for 50cioI events, and the students took advantage. and held their annual 'ball'in the
synagogue.
On the Maintenan￿ front we succes5fulty applied for a grnnt from The Communities Securities Trust
and we now have new Steel door5.
Our Outreach sertion has been very busy with visits to schoo15 a5 well as many coming to V151t the
synagogue. Although we ask for a donation. the feedback is very good, and we now have core who
Visit us each year. Professor Tim Sluckin also has an adult group who cover our traditions, more than
the religious aspects.
