REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES
AIMS
The Emma Johnson Music Foundation (EJMF) aims to provide musical education for young people and in particular knowledge of instrumental music. It does this by taking musical presentations into primary schools and also by giving concerts aimed at young people.
ACHIEVEMENT
In its first year, the EJMF has taken its Instrument Story presentations into 15 primary schools in London, Kent, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and Lincolnshire, playing to over 2000 children. Feedback back forms filled in by teachers and pupils have given extremely positive encouragement and have indicated that the presentations are at the right level for key stages 1 and 2 and that they enthuse the children with the idea of learning an instrument and listening to classical music.
FINANCIAL
The statement of financial activity shows that EJMF received donations and grants totalling £15,689, of which £13,267 was spent on illustrations and performers’ fees for the presentations as well as on administrative and publicity costs.
This leaves a cash reserve at the end of the financial year of £2,242.
FUTURE PLANS
EJMF has will take presentations into more schools in different regions of the UK including Dorset, Hereford, Oxford, Banbury, London Borough of Lewisham and Croydon. It also has received a £5000 grant to fund presentations in schools in the North East of England.
GOVERNANCE
The charity is controlled by its governing document
