Objective 1: Legacy projects providing better access, facilities and information
**Project 1: Landscaping a derelict area of canalside in Fenny Stratford** , introducing greater biodiversity and a community herb bed.
**Project 2: Erecting heritage signage canalside in Fenny Stratford** and celebrating the changes.
_Project Partners:_ Bletchley & Fenny Stratford Town Council, Canal & River Trust, Bedford & Milton Keynes Waterway Trust _Project Pool_ : 500 hours by volunteers from MK Canals, Bletchley & Fenny Stratford Green Gym, MK Community Boat Electra, Inland Waterways Association (MK Branch and Waterway Recovery Group), Buckingham Canal Society, and local residents
_Funding:_ Bletchley & Fenny Stratford Town Council, Canal & River Trust
**Project 3: Installing a canalside electric bollard at Wolverton Park** in summer 2025, to support Electra cruises from that location in 2026
**Project 4: Erecting heritage signage at Wolverton Park** and celebrating the changes.

_Project Pool:_ 300 hours by volunteers from MK Canals, MK Community Boat Electra, Inland Waterways Association (Waterway Recovery Group), Buckingham Canal Society, and local residents

## Objective 2: Communications projects to increase local awareness and engagement
**Project 5: Fourteen free Heritage Talk & Glide Cruises on MK Community Boat Electra** , researched, developed and delivered in September 2025 as part of Heritage Open Days at Fenny Stratford, Campbell Wharf, New Bradwell, and Wolverton Park

_Project Pool:_ 250 hours by volunteers from MK Canals, MK Community Boat Electra, Bradwell Windmill Project
**Project 6: Two 2-hour ‘down memory lane’ events held at Great Linford and Wolverton Park** as part of Heritage Open Days events in September 2025, with display boards and a talk created to attract public interest, and volunteers holding short interviews to start the process of gathering oral history relating to MK canals
_Project Partners:_ Living Archive, The Parks Trust _Project Pool:_ 150 hours by volunteers from MK Canals and MK Community Boat Electra
Objective 3: Establishing MK Canals as a recognised partner at local, regional and national levels
**Foundation elements of governance put in place** Constituted as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) 4 Founding Trustees appointed Public liability insurance arranged Projects pipeline set up
Key policies created (Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, GDPR)
Logo and branding developed and website and LinkedIn presence created
First annual accounts filed for initial extended year May 2024-October 2025
**Advocacy initiated at local, regional and national level in support of open water transfer schemes** that will bring environmental benefits to Milton Keynes and beyond.
