To promote and protect the physical and mental health of sufferers of kidney cancer in England, Scollarsd and Wales through the provision of free care bags. also containing essential support information, and Comfort Cushions for use following major surgery and during any subsequent Irealmenl pathway. To relieve sickness and lo preserve the health of the patients in hospitals throughout England, Scotland and Wales by providing or assisting in the provision of care packs containing essential items for hospital admission, or during the treatment pathway. This service is not provided by the NHS. Progress Fluller- Bringing a little brightness lo kidney cancer patients, registered charity number 1208259 has moved from its first premises, a rental unit at 88 Rectory Lane, Chelmsford, Essex, CM1 1 RF, to the upstairs section of the property. This is a much larger spacioLJS area, where the volunteers can operate from safely, preparing all deliveries, whilst il also provides adequate secure storage. This has significantly improved the operation of our small charity, enabling safe and secure storage, and overall effective running of the charity day lo day. Furthermore, this has provided a suitable area for preparation of our care bags and comfort cushions. This move and rental costs have been possible due to a successful grant from Essex Community Foundation through the Cancer Community Fund. A grant of which has been hugety impactive lo the daily operation of Fluller. This much needed space means Ihal our volunteers from local communities can come together with a renewed sense of purpose and value. This includes our much-valued sewing bees, who sew the cushion covers and care bags. They benefit enormously from their volunteering aclivilies, stating il improves their wellbeing and mental health. Many of our volunteers reside in rural communities, and some with disabilities, and their involvement with FlJller has been instrumental in maintaining their overall health. Flutter is now able to receive new volunteers and visitors. Our volunteers are now increasing as we have the additional space to invite the much-needed help to Flutter. Both patients and staff are incredibly grateful to our small charity. and this is demonslraled in the emails that we receive thanking Flutter. Having larger premises lo operate Flutter from has been productive. Flutter had outgrown the very small unil we were previously operating from. and il was impossible to store products, and safely utilise the space. This had become incredibly challenging in so many ways. To now be able lo operate efficiently and safely in our larger premises has ensured a safer and more productive working environment. and a place where our volunteers can come together for friendship and a sense of purpose. We know how important their connection and relationship is with Team Fluller which has significantly contributed to the mental wellbeing of our volunteers. Since the project commenced, we have distributed 3440 Care Bags and Comfort Cushions to kidney cancer patients throughout England, Scotland and Wales. The impact that Flutter has, is demonstrated by the flow of messages and feedback from clinical staff, patients and their loved ones. We regularly receive small monetary donations via our GoFundMe page and emai15 requesting ways lo donate to ensure we can continue providing kidney cancer patients with c8re bags and comfort cushions. Flutter is fortunate to have two ambassadors supporting our worf<ings. Royal Free hospital in London. Based at Mid Essex Trust. is Dr Karan Wadhwa who is the other ambassador. Both are very big supporters of the Work Flutter undertakes and active in such. A compelling endorsement for the work of Flutter, is the statement made by both consultants and clinical teams, that we are positively changing the treatment pathway for those patients affected by kidney cancer. Furthermore, this is demonslraled by the nurses who seek to fundraise by undertaking innovative events to raise funds for whal we do, as they all see firslhand the benefits for their patients. We know already from the clinical nurse specialists Ihal the provision of care bags enables positive dialogue lo begin between the CNS and their patient, and they report that they learn so much about their patient. This assists them lo identify a suitable roadmap for reassurance and dealing with any issues that may need lo be addressed, that were not established previously. Flutter continues to form relationships with other charities and companies. Small groups of volunteers have also formed in communities, fundraising for the support we provide. These groups provide companionship and a sense of purpose and are very much valued. Funding Flutter continues to apply for essential funding grants, some of which have been successful and this has been hugely impaclive on the great work that our sm811 charity uqdert8kes in order to continue bringing a little brightness to kidney cancer patients. We are currently on year 2 of a two-year grant from the Cancer Community Fund, which has been invaluable and integral to our essential operations. Flutter has been successful in its application to the National Lottery in July 2026, receiving a grant for of £19978. Each grant is gratefully received, enabling Flutter to purchase and fOard plan essential purchases of products for the care bags, fabric. cushion inserts, printing. rental costs and delivery fees lo the 37 hospitals, that to dale have received care bags and comfort cushions to continue bringing a little brightness to kidney cancer patients. This remains essential as there is limited support and awareness for patients affected by this type of cancer. As a small charity of volunteers. but with a national reach, we have found il necessary to fundraise lo ensure that we can continue to operate lo provide support for kidney cancer patients. Volunteers Fluller has a very small group of volunteers who are integral to its success. Our regular sewing bees produce the care bags and comfort cushions that are distributed to kidney cancer patients nationally. Small groups have formed in some communities who come together to also create these items, and this has resulted in firm friendships 2nd purpose. These groups are beneficial to the community, but also lo Flutter as a small charity, and our patients. Flutter has involvement with the local Chelmsford Ukrainian settlement group, and a year ago, Flutter was introduced to Alla, who was sellling into the local area. In this lime All8 has been invaluable to Flutter with her lime and energy and regular weekly allendances at Flutter Ha. In her words, she describes the benefits of fendShiP and support that this has provided to her, but also the opportunity to improve her English skills. Structure, Government and management Trustees meet four times annually, but also remain in communications throughout the Year. All meetings are documented and minutes agreed and circulated. All trustees are SLPPOrtive of fundraising events throughout the calendar year and are involved in all events.
