ANNUAL REPORT & FINANCIAL STATEMENTS
for year ending 5th April 2026
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
- Jeremiah 17:7-8, NIV
As I sit down to write my first introduction to our Annual Report, I do so with great joy and thankfulness. Within these pages, you will read numbers and stories which speak of ministries supported, upheld and in some cases transformed by the dedicated work of our amazing team of staff, Associates and volunteers.
This year, by God’s grace, we have been able to serve over 1,000 leaders, representing over 400 churches, which is a hugely encouraging number, but one we believe is still only scratching the surface of the need.
It has been a privilege to take up the reins of an organisation so thoroughly committed to seeing leaders strengthened and encouraged in the grace of God. After more than 20 years in church-based pastoral ministry myself, I am keenly aware of the vital importance of this emphasis. One of the surprising paradoxes of church leadership is that those who are so good at pointing others to the grace of God can find it very hard to apply the same life-transforming truths to their own lives.
My priority, since taking up the role eight months ago, has been to try to make explicit some of the DNA which Marcus Honeysett has so brilliantly established over the last nearly 20 years, to enable us to move forward in partnership with others to continue to support the leaders and spouses who most need it.
As we head towards our 20[th] Anniversary year, I am keenly aware not just of the amazing opportunities that lie ahead, but also of the challenges. As you will see from the accounts, we have some financial hurdles to overcome, but we’re prayerfully confident that by partnering well with others, we will be able to steady the finances and establish a broader and more secure base for moving the ministry forward.
I want to thank all who have stood with us in prayer and finance over the past decades. Please pray with us that the Lord would continue to provide all that is needed to enable us to encourage leaders and their spouses into joyful, faithful, fruitful service to the glory of God!
Phil Sweeting, Chief Executive
4
I am delighted to report that 2025-26 has been a very rewarding and intense year for Living Leadership as we have served many (including some of you who are reading this) who look to us to support them in their demanding ministry service. We have continued to be fully engaged and active across our three key areas of focus: Formation Ministries (which focus on training), Refresh Ministries (which provide pastoral care and support for those in ministry), and the resources we provide to help leaders in their leadership, faith, and support of their churches and local communities.
Living Leadership is very blessed to have a wonderful staff team who remain focused on the key priorities of our ministry. This has been particularly noticeable this year as Phil Sweeting has stepped into the role of CEO. I am delighted not only to have got to know him better, but also to see the new energy and direction he has brought to Living Leadership. I would urge as many of you as possible to get to know Phil and hear his vision for the future. As trustees, we are certainly looking forward to him leading our work for many years to come.
As I mentioned in my last report, Phil’s appointment was the result of Marcus Honeysett’s decision to step down from the day-to-day leadership. However, Marcus remains very much part of the Living Leadership team as our Founder and President, and he continues to champion all that Living Leadership is known for.
As you can see from Phil’s letter, my comments, and the following report, the period covered by these accounts, and subsequently, has been one of significant change for Living Leadership. As Trustees, we would ask for your prayers as things settle into a new rhythm, whilst continuing to deliver the services that so many in ministries rely on us for.
We thank you for your ongoing support and prayers, and may God continue to bless you in your ministries.
Hugh Davies Chair of the Board

JOYFUL FAITHFUL FRUITFUL EADERS & SPOUSES
Living Leadership’s vision is to see every church and Christian organisation led by joyful, faithful, fruitful leaders
Our Mission
To help us achieve this vision, we aim to serve the Church and its leaders in two ways:
Firstly, by walking alongside leaders whether in one-to-ones and small groups, or by welcoming them to events specifically focused on their spiritual health and joy in Christ. We are also passionate about supporting leaders’ spouses in that same way, so that they too can thrive in faith and service.
Secondly, by both advocating for and training in spiritually healthy practices and patterns for leaders and spouses.
Our People
This is all made possible by the incredible passion and dedication of a team of Staff, Associates, Trustees and Volunteers (our “Network”) from all over the UK and Ireland, who give their time, heart and talents to see leaders and their spouses thrive in faith and ministry.
Find out more about what we’ve been up to as a Network this year on page 20.
You can also see a full list of our Trustees on page 23.
GRACE
At Living Leadership we believe everything begins with the grace of God. We recognise that without Christ we are spiritually dead, helpless and hopeless (Eph 2:1-13). But that paradoxically, in recognising our weakness and turning in dependence on Christ, we find strength. We long for the spiritual oxygen of grace to permeate all that we do.
This grace fuels our
CONVICTIONS
We can only understand this grace of God as it is revealed in the person of Jesus whom we meet in the Word of God through the Spirit of God. And so all that we do aims to be rooted in the Word of God and Christ-centred.
These convictions shape our
VALUES
We long to be a joy-filled, worshipful, prayerful organisation, marked by a gracious generosity. These values produce our
PRACTICE
When we serve those in ministry, we want to show hospitality in the way we welcome and listen. Serving out of our weakness enables us to provide a safe place for those in ministry to be vulnerable. We never want cost to prevent those in ministry from accessing our services.
All that we do is towards
THE GOAL
Joyful, faithful, fruitful leaders and spouses.
Leaders who abide in Christ (John 15:1-8). Leaders shaped and formed by the Holy Spirit for long-term, fruitful Gospel ministry through which God will build His Church and be glorified.
Grace isn’t just the starting point - it flows all the way through our convictions, values and practise and back again. Joyful, faithful, fruitful leaders are deeply shaped by the grace of God
JE
Our annual Pastoral Refreshment Conferences offer people in Christian leadership and their spouses an opportunity to get away and receive replenishment for their souls.
This year we were delighted to hold three conferences across two locations: the first of these took place in Hertfordshire, and the other two in the Lake District ( in partnership with Keswick Ministries ).
Each conference looked at the theme ‘Streams in the Desert’, with Eric Ortlund unpacking the Psalms in Hertfordshire, and Marcus Honeysett tracing the theme of life-giving water in the Bible for those attendees in the Lakes.
There was a palpable sense of the Lord meeting and refreshing his people through the teaching, the environment of rest and grace, and through the care and attention the team provided.
We are so thankful for the team of volunteers whose gracious services make these events the ‘annual oasis’ our delegates enjoy.

Living Leadership’s Pastoral Refreshment conferences are what keeps us going in ministry... We’ve been to PRC most years over the last 14 years – and in the years we’ve not been able to come, we’ve noticed the difference for the rest of the year... It’s a great time for us as church leaders but it’s also really good for our marriage – coming away together and being able to worship and receive from the Lord, together.

During each Refreshment Day, we gather
around God’s Word, take time for personal
reflection, and pray together. There are also
opportunities for one-to-one support from
members of our pastoral team, creating space
for encouragement and care.
This year, it was a joy to host 17 days across
England, with a vision to expand into more
regions in the years ahead.
Highlights include encouragement to cultivate
a life of abiding in Christ in Kent; the launch
of a new partnership with Yarnton Manor in
Oxford; and in Kingsclere, Di and Paul Allcock
sharing from their many years of ministering
together as a married couple.
We’ve also been encouraged by the number
of delegates choosing to return regularly. Our
hope is that these days will become a staple
source of refreshment for leaders and their
spouses across the country,
helping them persevere

“ The most powerful thing is that everyone there gets where you’re coming from and, so often, their struggles chime with yours and seeing their solutions (usually being moulded and shaped by the Lord) can and will be your solutions, in your context. The Lord spoke to me very clearly through his word and reinforced something I needed to hear at a difficult time in my ministry.
12
These days are made possible by the army of Associates & Volunteers who pour out their time.
We are so thankful for every caterer, musician, speaker, Associate & staff member who made these spaces of refreshment possible!
13
“
I love a regular time in my diary to simply sit and receive from the Lord.
Our Group ministries exist to provide regular space for refreshment, along with opportunities to share and receive support from others.
At the heart of each gathering is time in God’s Word, followed by space to reflect, share openly, and pray together. These groups are intentionally shaped to be safe and supportive environments, where both the struggles and joys of ministry can be spoken about honestly, amongst others who share similar experiences from across the country.
The teaching is always helpful and points me to Jesus.
We offer a range of groups to serve different needs, including groups open to
including groups open to any leaders and spouses, as well as dedicated spaces for women in ministry and for spouses. Some groups meet in person while others gather online, with rhythms that vary from twice-monthly (Refresh Network Online), monthly (Spouses Communities) to bimonthly (Women in Ministry groups).
I’ve deeply appreciated the consistency of my small group over recent years. To journey with a few over the long term has been a precious source of support and prayer.
We are encouraged by the continued growth of this ministry, particularly the numerical growth of the Women in Ministry groups and the development of in-person Spouses groups in Kent and Birmingham.
Small groups are most effective when they create space for trust to grow and relationships to deepen. So it is also encouraging that around half of our participants are attending regularly (more than half of the sessions).
sessions). Our hope is that every leader and spouse would have regular access to meaningful peer support and regular opportunities for refreshment through these groups.
14
In recent years, we have sought to develop our ministry to spouses further by creating opportunities to come together for a more in-depth discussion on topics that may prove a particular challenge for spouses of people in ministry.
In the last year, we have held seminars on the seasonal nature of our emotions and soul-care (including the impact of hormones), handling criticisms of ourselves and our partners, and raising children in ministry.

SEMINARS
----- End of picture text -----
Looking ahead, we have seminars planned on sacrifice, handling our inner critic, and maintaining spiritual intimacy in ministry marriages. We are also looking to develop drop-ins for spouses around topical themes.
One-to-ones provide safe spaces for leaders and spouses to let their guard down and be honest about how they are doing. Whether it’s about the joys or challenges of ministry, the health of their marriage or the state of their own joy in the faith, our team are ready to provide a listening ear, grace-filled care, and Christ-focused counsel, to help every leader and spouse live and serve with joyfulness, faithfulness and fruitfulness
Across the year at least 100 leaders and spouses actively engaged with a one-to-one through one-off or regular meetings. We say “at least” because many of our Associates will provide additional one-to-one meetings at events and through independent referrals, and so we are continuing to develop our ability to correctly track this activity centrally.
“
I’ve been meeting with an Associate regularly and it has been so helpful. It’s amazing the way that God brought us together and how He is using her to speak into my life in ways that have helped me grow so much over the last 6 months.
15
How can you start well in ministry, to help you serve joyfully, faithfully and fruitfully for the long haul?
This is the question that our Formation Residential Conferences aim to answer, providing foundational knowledge and perspective to those starting out in ministry, across the two conferences, in September and March.
Along with the junior leaders, we also encourage supervisors to accompany their delegates and take an active part in sharing their wisdom as part of the teaching team.
This year involved some changes to team and venues. We are thankful for Cornerstone Church and Redeemer Church in Nottingham for letting us take over their buildings for these events, along with the faithful team of volunteers who fed, taught and cared for the delegates.

I would highly recommend Formation to anyone starting out in ministry. It is a great few days to reflect on God’s grace to us and receive practical and spiritual advice about working in ministry. The conference is also a good way to meet people in a similar situation and to encourage each other
16
Our staff and Associates are passionate about equipping the church and its leaders and spouses to live joyfully, faithfully and fruitfully, which is why we welcome invitations to come and lead sessions at churches and events on topics in this area, or to guide groups through refreshment practices.
Highlights in this year included sessions about Caring for your Soul/ Spiritual Health practices at Midlands Men’s Convention events, a Co-Mission Women in Ministry event,
the European Leadership Forum, the Keswick Convention and for Faith in Kids.
Navigators in providing Formation School to equip leaders in Southampton and the surrounding areas.
We also had opportunities to lead and teach on topics relating to Leadership, Authority, and Spiritual Refreshment in Albania, Malaysia and New Zealand.
Whilst the School took a break for the 2025/26 academic year, we are busy making plans for the year to come, and prayerfully hoping the Lord will provide a new cohort of leaders.
Along with these and other opportunities, we were pleased to continue our partnership with Above Bar Church and the
“[We are so grateful to Living Leadership for giving our team ] a very careful session on abiding with Jesus in the whole of our lives. As a Christian charity we are keen to not only point others to Jesus, but also to provide a culture for our team to be brought closer to Jesus in our everyday work. Living Leadership provided us with great help to improve in this
17
One of the areas we are particularly looking to invest in and develop is the way we resource and advocate for the spiritual health of leaders and spouses. Across the last year, we have taken some early steps towards improving our offering in this area.
Growing the reach of our resources
Initially, we have made all our Leadership Toolkits, Ministry Masterclasses and Best Practice Guides completely free to download. Our hope was that it would increase the reach of these guides, and that has proved true with 3.5x more resources being downloaded in the six months since they became free than in the six months prior.
Our most popular resource, by far, continues to be our Sabbaticals Guide, which was downloaded 31 times.
Our blog continued to receive views this year. Whilst we moved to a fortnightly publishing schedule in the latter half of the year, our blog still enjoyed 1555 unique post views across the year. We continue to be thankful for the hard work put in by our Editor, Richard Collins, along with all those who contribute to this resource.
A voice for leaders & spouses
It can be hard for leaders to advocate for their own care and support within the practical and relational structures of a church, which is why we want to be able to give voice to their needs on their behalf.
For several years, we have undertaken an annual survey on spiritual health. The survey closed to contributions in early April. Whilst the number of contributors is still not as high as we aspire to, we were able to spread the word further this year through an article in EN Magazine and have had several fruitful discussions about how we might make next year’s survey the biggest yet.

Leadership transition
In September 2025, Living Leadership’s founder, Marcus Honeysett, passed the leadership of the organisation to Phil Sweeting, our new CEO.
It was wonderful to mark this transition together as a team at our Annual Network Gathering at the end of September, where we took time to celebrate, discuss and refocus on our values as an organisation.
As we get used to the new structure, it has also been a blessing to spend more time together as a staff team, now meeting in person once a quarter.
Goodbyes and hellos!
We are very thankful to God for the service of all those who moved on from Living Leadership during the year: Paul Coulter (staff), Geoff Donaldson (Associate) and Gordon Weir (Associate).
We are also thankful for the way the Lord continues to draw like-minded people to our team. This year, we welcomed four new Associates: Joanne Ellis, Rick Jensen, Rebecca Benton and Neil Townsend.
Each person brings new strengths and giftings, and we look forward to seeing how the Lord might bring that together for the good of leaders and spouses, and for his glory.

Living Leadership Ministries (charity number 1208230) was formed by a CIO registration dated 13 May 2024 and amended on 1 September 2024. The formal transfer of assets from Living Leadership (charity number 1121621) was approved on 31 January 2025.
The trustees (detailed below) met formally on four occasions during the reporting period to administer the charity and establish its strategic direction.
As stated in the CIO constitution, Living Leadership Ministries maintain a Board of Trustees of no fewer than three individuals. At the end of the reporting period, the Board of Trustees consisted of seven individuals.
New trustees are nominated by existing trustees and, following an interview process, are appointed by a resolution passed by a majority of the Trustees and recorded in the minutes of a Trustee meeting. All Trustees are required to declare their belief in and allegiance to the charity’s Statement of Beliefs.
The day-to-day running of the charity is delegated to a small team of staff who work remotely around the country. This is led by the Chief Executive, Phil Sweeting.

Our Charitable Purpose & Public Benefit
The objects of the Charity are to advance the Christian faith in accordance with its statement of beliefs, in such parts of the United Kingdom or the world as the trustees may from time to time think fit, and to fulfil such other purposes which are exclusively charitable according to the law of England and Wales and are connected with the charitable work of the Trust.
When planning these activities, the trustees have considered the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit and, in particular, the specific guidance on charities for the advancement of religion. In particular, we aim to provide in-situ and distance training and mentoring of local church leaders to help their congregations in worship and in serving their local communities.
23
Responsibilities of the Trustees
The Charities Act 1993 and other relevant legislation require the Trustees to prepare accounts for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the Trust and of the profit and loss for that period. In preparing these accounts, the Trustees are required to:
-
a. select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;
-
b. make judgments and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;
-
c. state whether applicable accounting standards have been followed;
-
d. prepare the accounts on a going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to do so.
The Trustees are responsible for ensuring that arrangements are made for keeping proper books of account with respect to its transactions, its assets and liabilities such as to enable every Revenue account of the Trust to give a true and fair view of the income and expenditure for that period, and every Balance Sheet to give a true and fair view; as at the Balance Sheet date, of the state of affairs and other current, relevant legislation. The Trustees are also responsible for establishing and maintaining a satisfactory system of control of its books of account, its cash holdings and all its receipts and remittances and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
Reserves policy
The trustees aim to maintain reserve funds to cover a minimum of three months of operational costs.
This is designed to enable the charity to continue to operate its essential services, remunerate its employees and pay its necessary expenses in the event of an unanticipated reduction in donations or unforeseen expenditure.
At the end 2025-26, the reserves totalled £70,506.87.
Declaration
The trustees declare that they have approved the trustees report as detailed above Signed on behalf of the charity’s trustees:

FINANCIAL STATEMENTS
This year marked the first full year of operation for the Charitable Incorporated Organisation, with the former Trust ceasing operations and transferring its remaining funds to the CIO in November 2025.
As we reflect on our finances, we are deeply grateful to the many individuals, churches, and grant-making trusts who supported us throughout the year. Their generosity accounted for 83% of our overall income.

The remainder of our income came largely through event ticket sales. However, we remain committed to offering most of our services either free of charge or at low cost, so that leaders and spouses can access the support they need regardless of financial circumstances. As a result, the costs of delivering these events often exceed the income they generate.
This challenge was particularly evident during the current reporting period. The economic climate and other circumstances beyond our control resulted in lower-than-anticipated attendance at paid events. Alongside this, some expected funding opportunities did not materialise.
Consequently, the year ended with a significant deficit and a substantial reduction in reserves. Whilst this creates temporary challenges, we remain confident both in the importance of this work and the generosity of those who share this vision.
----- Start of picture text -----
At the end of January, our new CEO announced the launch of the Partnership Scheme, aimed
at encouraging new partnerships and keeping our existing supporters informed and connected
with the ministry. Although this initiative did not significantly impact income within the reporting
period, the initial response has been very encouraging, and
it has laid important foundations for future growth and
deeper engagement with our supporters.
Looking ahead, we hope to welcome more people
into financial partnership through both one-

through this we will be able to rebuild

I report on the accounts of the CIO for the year ended 5 April 2026, which are set out on pages 28-29. These have been prepared under historical cost convention and in accordance with applicable accounting standards and the Statement of Recommended Practice on Accounting by Charities (SORP).
Respective Responsibilities of the Trustees and the Independent Examiner
As Trustees of the Charity, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts: you consider that the audit requirement of section 43 (2) of the Charities Act 1993 (the Act) does not apply. It is my responsibility to state, on the basis of procedures specified in the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners under section 43 (7) (b) of the Act, whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of Independent Examiner’s Report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the Charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with these records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as Trustees concerning such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
Independent Examiner’s Statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
-
which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 41 of the Act, and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements of the Act
have not been met; or
- to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
