This has been our first full year operating as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), and it has been a year marked by growth, increased visibility, and deeply meaningful impact. Preloved Reloved – Cancer & Beyond exists to support anyone undergoing treatment for cancer by providing practical items, emotional reassurance, and equitable access to essential care products. ## **2. Structure, Governance and Management** Preloved Reloved – Cancer & Beyond is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), managed by a Board of Trustees: - **Chairperson & Trustee:** Jo Knight - **Trustee:** Samantha Linstrem - **Trustee:** Leiana Jones - **Trustee:** Lesley Packman As a small CIO, the organisation is primarily volunteer-run, with the Chairperson sorting, storing, and distributing donated items from her home. ## **3. Objectives and Activities** ## **Charitable Purpose** Our purpose is simple yet vital: **to help and support anyone going through a cancer diagnosis** , ensuring that no one is denied access to the items they need due to financial constraints. ## **What We Provide** Preloved Reloved – Cancer & Beyond supports individuals by providing a wide range of items including: - Wigs, turbans, scarves - Breast prosthetics - Compression garments - PICC line covers - Mastectomy pillows - Various comfort and support items Our model ensures accessibility for all. While we invite optional donations to cover postage via our GoFundMe page, we never require payment from those in need. We also maintain an accessible website for individuals without social media: **www.prelovedreloved.org.uk** ## **4. Public Benefit and Reach** Social media channels (Instagram and Facebook) have been instrumental in widening our reach. Posters strategically placed in hospitals, chemo units, community spaces, and local businesses have also significantly amplified awareness. We continue to receive a steady flow of donated items, a testament to the community’s generosity and belief in our mission. ## **5. Achievements and Performance (May 2024 – March 2025)** ## **Packages Sent** From May 2024 to March 2025, we distributed **566 packages** to individuals across the UK, offering free, essential support to those undergoing cancer treatment. ## **First-Year Impact as a CIO** Our first year as a registered charity has been overwhelmingly positive. Support from individuals, fundraisers, and organisations has allowed us to strengthen and expand our services. ## **Grants and Fundraising** - We received our first grant from **DDC – The Cost of Living Community Impact Fund** , which enabled us to purchase: - Website hosting and upkeep - A secure outdoor parcel drop box - Sustainable packaging - Marketing materials - Fundraisers have included: - A head shave organised by a supporter whose mother benefited from our service - A generous monthly salary donation from an individual who had experienced breast cancer and wished to give back - Optional contributions to postage costs continue to significantly support our operating expenses. ## **Community Engagement** - **Hospice Talk:** Jo was invited to present at a hospice in Thanet, sharing insight into our work and participating in a Q&A session. - **Walking Group:** We launched a monthly support group where individuals meet to walk, talk, and share support in a relaxed community setting. ## **6. Future Plans and Development** The Trustees have identified several key development priorities for the coming year: ## **Storage and Premises** Due to the volume of donations, we may need to seek alternative storage or dedicated premises to improve operational efficiency. ## **Support Packs for Scalp Cooling Patients** As someone with permanent chemotherapy-induced alopecia (PCIA), Jo is passionate about supporting individuals using scalp cooling. After visiting Paxman Headquarters to better understand their system, we hope to develop **scalp cooling support packs** , pending funding or relevant grants. ## **Donation Stations Project** We are exploring the creation of **20 branded donation stations** (£3,300 quotation received). These would be placed in cancer centres/chemo units to encourage easy, ongoing donation of suitable items. A volunteer-led collection model would be needed, with ambassadors responsible for: - Monitoring stations - Collecting and sorting donations - Preparing items for delivery to the charity Clear guidelines and volunteer resources will be developed before implementation. ## **Continued Fundraising and Capacity Building** To sustainably meet growing demand, the Trustees will focus on: - Grant applications - Community fundraising - Volunteer engagement - Expanding partnerships with healthcare providers ## **7. Conclusion** This year has demonstrated not only the need for our service but also the generosity and compassion of the community. The Trustees are immensely proud of the impact achieved in such a short time and grateful for every donation, message, and act of support.
