THE HAMILTON CHARITY ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE FINANCIAL YEAR 2024-25
The Charity has changed it’s status to that of a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. It’s objects remain the same – helping people within the parish of Long Melford on limited income. To this end the Charity remain determined to develop an affordable housing scheme for local people within the village. Legal, financial and professional advice has been sought on the most appropriate way forward which safeguards the charity’s ability to focus on the needs of local people. An earlier housing survey confirmed there is a strong need for rented housing at affordable rents. It is also important for the Charity to retain ownership of the properties to avoid speculative purchase.
The Charity Commission has also been fully consulted and is satisfied that our plans are in accordance with our objects. An experienced and suitably qualified chartered surveyor has been appointed by the Charity to provide vital professional support. The local community will be consulted once firm plans are completed.
During the year the Charity also provided financial help to the local primary school to ensure that pupils from low income families could enjoy an overseas trip bringing both educational and social benefits.
