Trustees’ Annual Report for the period 7/5/24 to 20/11/24

Objectives and Activities

The Cricket Club has a constituted goal of providing amateur cricket facilities and playing opportunities. In the period in question we maintained our facilities (cricket pitch, 2 small changing rooms, 2 small social spaces and a 3 lane practice facility) and ran practices and teams for 17 teams for boys, girls, men and women. The trustees have regard to the commissions guidance on public benefit and we are satisfied that our activities fulfil this guidance.

Achievements and Performance

The reporting period in question marks the first since our move from being an unincorporated sports club to becoming a charitable incorporated organisation. The trustees are pleased with this transition. We continue to make a diverse offer for cricket enthusiasts and to be significant contributors to the cricket culture in the region.

Financial Review

The club carried a healthy balance with us from the unincorporated sports club and to that end we ended this financial period with a balance of over £20k (see accounts below for detail). The club do not have a written policy regarding reserves however we have for some time had regard to the goal of maintaining reserves equal to at least 3 months running expenses. The end of this period sees us comfortably within the scope of such a goal with £24k in the bank at the end of this period.

Our principal sources of income are grants, fundraising and membership payments. The club’s most significant risks arise from uncertainty pertaining to tenure.

Structure Governance and Management

Governance within the charitable incorporated organisation is guided by our guiding constitution and is overseen by 3 trustees who are elected annually at the club’s annual general meeting.
