Trustees Annual Report 30[th] April 2024 – 30[th] September 2025

This annual report covers the period 30[th] April 2024 to 30[th] September 2025, this is the first year of the foundation's operation. This report is written following the guidance from the Charity Commission for England and Wales, and in line with Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard for Smaller Entities (the FRSSE)

1. Objectives & Activities

The objects of the foundation are for the benefit of the public generally and, in particular, the inhabitants of the East Riding of Yorkshire, Bridlington and surrounding areas -

• a. To promote community participation in healthy recreation by providing facilities for the playing of and development of cricket and other sports capable of improving health (“facilities” in this clause 3 means land, buildings, equipment and organising sporting activities including coaching and courses of instruction),

• b. To provide and assisting in providing facilities for sport, recreation or other leisure time occupation of such persons who have need for such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, poverty, or social and economic circumstances or for the public at large in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving their conditions of life

• c. To advance the education of all and particularly of children and young people through such means as the trustees think fit in accordance with the law of charity

• d. The relief of those who are in need, particularly children and young people, by reason of sickness or disability, financial hardship or social and economic circumstances, including by the provision of grants to fund items such as sports equipment, club membership or training facilities for those who cannot afford them.”

2. Achievements and Performance

• a) We organised and delivered a First Aid course for local cricket volunteers, supporting them to achieve the qualifications required by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). The course was attended by 18 participants.

• b) We delivered a five-day Summer Camp programme in August, engaging 41 children in a range of cricketbased activities. Participants developed their skills through coaching sessions, took part in fun games and matches, and built confidence, teamwork, and communication skills.

3. Financial Review

• a. Bridlington Cricket Foundation has committed to the principle of never over charging for activities, to ensure that cost is not a barrier to anyone taking part.

• b. Therefore, grants and external funding are the primary way we provide activities.

• c. Funding in this period was derived from these key sources:

• I. Sport England - The Movement Fund £8,000 – The grant will be used for our Step Into Sport: Walking for Wellbeing is an inclusive programme promoting physical and mental wellbeing through walking-based football, cricket, and netball.

• II. City Health Care Partnership - Small Grants programme £500 - The grant will be used towards our free, 12-week healthy lifestyle and weight management programme designed to support overweight adults in Bridlington who are at risk of heart disease and related health conditions

• III. Barclays - Community Sport Fund £1,000 - The grant will allow us to extend our outreach efforts, running more sessions in local schools and community groups, targeting women and girls from deprived areas. This will help us engage more participants and offer a pathway into sustained involvement in cricket.

• d. Spending in this period was as expected for a charity in its first year of operation, with capital expenditure such as marketing, coaches and training costs as well as costs such as hosting and other administrative costs.

• e. At the end of this period the charity is in a very healthy financial position. External funding is secured to September 2026, with a good pipeline of additional funding yet to be applied for.
