## Trustees Annual Report for 2024 

Our motto is identical to that of our parent organisation – 

“Learn, Laugh, Live”. 

To this end we held 12 meetings on the 2[nd] Thursday of each month throughout 2024 when we had a coffee morning that every member could attend followed by a speaker. Our speakers were mainly guests of our U3A (2 speakers being from our own membership) and their talks covered a wide range of interesting and stimulating subject subjects. Our speaker finder tries to put together a programme of speakers from Local (Leicestershire) and National Charities. She also invites a couple of speakers to talk about our local history and news organisations. Our internal speakers usually talk about their own interests which can be light-hearted or more formal. 

Some of our larger interest groups also had speakers &/or outings which were more specific to their particular interests. As examples, the Engineering, Science and Technology group had a talk about the development of watches and clocks, whilst the Theatre Group went to several shows at the Curve Theatre in Leicester. 

In total we maintained the number of interest groups at 35. 

As this is our first report to the Charity Commission we can report that we have reviewed and updated where necessary all our mandated policies and the majority of our advised policies.

The quality of the financial records has improved every year since I started reviewing the accounts of Wycliffe Lutterworht U3A three years ago, in terms of accuracy, timely information along with tighter financial controls. 

I can confirm that I have examined 2024 accounts. It gives a true and fair view of the financial position as at December 31, 2024. 

For the coming years, I will ask to review cash records from ALL Group leaders which involve cash transactions/petty cash. Cash management potentially presents a risk from a financial control point of view. Such risks cannot be properly assessed without reviewing cash records from the group leaders.
