The trustees oversee the day-to4ay running of the association and are
accountable to the membership, seeking the views of members in
deciding activities and th8 focus of support.
The charity is affiliated to the Hampshire Beekeepers Association (HBA)
and the British Beekeepers Association {BBKA).
All trustees give their time voluntarily and received no remuneration or
other benefits additional to those of ordinary members

In planning our activities for the year. we have aligned our efforts to our
objectives. The main activities are as follows..
The annual Beginnerfs Course,. classroom and practical lessons
for would-be beekeepers and those members of the public
interested in studying the honeybee lrfe cycle, management and
the role of honeybees as pollinator.
The monthly apiary meeting. providing practical hands-on
experien￿ to beginners and experienced beekeepers whilsl also
providing an environment for coaching and support.
The Winter evening meeting- providing talks from experts in topics
to further the education of the members.
Provision of coaching to beekeepers seeking to enhance their
knowledge taking BBKA Curriculum examinations.
Swam Collection setvice,. supporting the public with the removal
of honeybee swarms from public and private properties as a
service to the community.
Attending local shows and events to educate the public in the
craft of beekeeping.
Provision of resources to aid the members with their beekeeping
including the hire of more expensive capital equipment and bulk
purchasing of beekeeping supplies.
Working with the National Bee Unit INBU) within the Animal &
Plant Health Agency (APHA) in its fight against the Asian Homet

We are grateful for the many hours member volunteers give to support
the education programmes training and educating the public in the craft
of beekeeping and encouraging other members in their craft. Without
this valuable contribution of time, energy and expertise we would not be
able to achieve our objectives.

Achievements and performance
Summary of the main
achievements of thè charity
during the year
The 2024 Beginners Course completed in April attended by 30
new students. A number of the students went on to set up their
own apiaries during the summer.
We ran study groups for BBKA examinalions. Five members took
and passed the Basic Assessmenl and three took and passed the
Honeybee Health Assessment and three members sat BBKA
m¢)dular exams
We held six apiary meetings at the association's training site
which were well attended by members and guests
We held seven Winter evening meetings attended by on average
25 members and their guests. Topics included.. Bees & Plants,
Honey Brews. All things Queens, The work of the charity Bees
Abroad. beekeeping equipmen( Water in the hive & Varroa
resistant bees.
We attended four local shows I fairs taking obseNation hives to
engage the public in bees & Beekeeping
We were called out to attend to 64 honeybee swarms as well as
supporting wrth advice to members ofthe public with concerns
about wasps & other bee species
We assisted 4 members to find apiary sites to enable them to
start beekeeping or further their craft

Financial review
As of 31 Sl December 2024 the Charity did not have its own bank account
and continued to operate via its legacy banking arrangements. A Deed
of Transfer will be completed in due course with a financial statement for
the year to December 2025 submitted in 2026

Other optional information
The coming year will see the commencement of our Schools Programme supported by a grant from the
BBKA including equipment and educational resources. We shall a150 Complete the Deed of Iransfer as
capital and reserves are transferred to Ihe Charity's bank account.
