Holy Cross Church is situated in the village of Binslcd in Hampshi￿ and is part of the Benefice of Bentley, Binsied &

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITILS

Holy Cross PCC has the respomibility of proTTh)ting in the ecclesi851ical parifjh ihe whole mi&sion of the Church
pastoral, evangelistic. social and ecum¢niul. It also has ]naintenJnce responsibiliiies for Holy Cross Church, a Grad¢ I
listed buildin8.
ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
The Electoral Roll was re85onably siable in 2024, with 56 people but is du¢ for fi￿d￿n￿nIal ￿lsiOn every six years
(due 2025). The Worshipping Community is e￿lm￿ed to be in the order of 50 people who regularly attend SOTn¢
services, and over 75 including those who also attend mor¢ occ&sionally. T￿￿ Are also a growing number of families
with young chitdren wkn hav¢ engaged with Messy Church events (held irt the Wickham InsiitutelBin5ted Village Hall)
durin8 the y¢ar, we hope thai thi4 as well as aiiendartce genernlly. will grow further in the future.
Revlew of the Ye*r
In 2024 the full PCC had five meetings. all of which were held in person.
Our main ￿nd￿l$ing activiiies were ITh May for a Caniique cortcert. October for the Harvest Supper which was held
joinrly with the Wickham Institute and in December when the Chn'stnw Fair was again v¢ry successfvl, using both the
¢h￿￿￿ building and the Wi¢kham Insiilllte. Other fU￿1raisIng aciivilics included Line Dancing c]a&ses and providing ihe
teas for a couple of events at Wheatley House including a National Gard¢n schen￿ (Wn Day.
The Real Nativity evenijusi before Chn'stmas was agaiT] w¢ll attended
Oiher community a¢tivities include regular mid.week prayer and bible study groups. both daytim¢ and evening.
A churchyard working party t(M)k place and iree nwintenance wa5 again CaTied {￿t by Hampshire Tree and Garden. We
are also extending the churchyard io provide addilional space for burials.
The Reordering Projeci Team continued io progress the Pla￿ for ihe installation of toild facilities for the ¢hurch. and
the PCC held a couple of mceiings io discuss the plans wilh Ihe team.
Our link with Karan￿ja in Ugarmja coniinues to be fostered wilh the provision of studeni bursaries for the Iraining of lay
ministers. We are particularly pleased thai a Friends of Binsted Church group was established during 2024 and are
especially graieful for the time and tnergy of all those involved in gffliing this started. We look fotward to its fornwl
laun¢h in 2025. wilh the aim to help support the futyre mainienance of our ￿aulIf￿1 church E￿ildIng_
The PCC has complied with the duly under seciion 5 of Ihe Safe8uardin8 and Clergy Discipline Measure 2016 Iduiy to
have due regard to Hous¢ of Bishops. guidance on safeguarding children ar]d vulncrdble adults).

FINANCIAL REVIEW
Following a few years of wme strain on OUT fiMn¢es foll¢)wing urgent repairs to the chwch, 2024 a ￿latiVelY steady
year of con501idation.
Our irtcoffle frorn reguilr givers has increased by 15% in 2024. however plate in¢on* from church services has remained
fairly stalic.
Our fundraising etTort in 2024 rnised arouThl £IO,(KK) and was geared towards the Spire and Tower Appeal until its
closure and then towards th¢ upkeep of our 12th century Grade I listed church building. These fvnds have come fvom
both donalions and ¢vents inc[￿1)￿g oui Christm&s FayTe. Hatvest Supper, Wheatley House Teas and Line Dancing
1&5s¢s. We ¢ontinue io receive donations through our elecirortie donation card reader in the church.
We also received a £IO.000 legacy from ihe estate of one of our regular parishioner5 who died in December 2022.
We have a150 received severdl donations tOWaTd5 our day rn]￿Ing costs.
The short terni loan given in 2023 to complete the repairs ro the ¢hwch was part repaid in 2024 wilh the [en￿1nder
converted to a donation. With the works compkted, the Spire and Towrr Appeal Iw been closed.
The PCC has continued to agree io a tenth of all Giving received each month to be r¢¢¥ined for good causes. The good
causes continue io be Karamoja. Tear Fund. St Michae]s 1105pice and coniributing to ihe employment of an Anna
Chaplain. The church al$0 continues to w the Alton F¢xKi Bank with colleciioTLS of non-perithablc foods.
Ihy to day ￿nnIng costs are continuing to I￿e&￿e and are kept tegularly under review.
The Common Mission Fund paid ￿ ihe Diocese (prcviously called The Parish Shar¢) was £29.289 for 21)24. an irKreas¢
of £647 on 2023. 1( is worth noting hcre that the fi8ure for 2025 will be £31.020. an increase of £1,731.
