Para 1.17 and 1.19	The Charity puts on two orchestral concerts a year in the Great Hall in Aberystwyth, and also undertakes varying individual projects from time to time.

Para 1.20	The Charity provides the public with an opportunity to attend live orchestral performances in the West Wales area. The Charity provides players of the required standard with the opportunity to participate in orchestral playing and develop their musical skills. Through its activities, the Charity extends the musical knowledge and promotes the wellbeing of audiences and players.

However, as at 20 September 2025, it had net assets of £56,965, all of which is in cash in its bank account or a National Savings Investment Account. This significantly exceeds the cashflow requirements of the Charity, and could be used for the purposes of unforeseen capital expenditure or liabilities.

A description of the principal risks facing the charity	Para 1.46	Aberystwyth University currently provides the Charity with a grant of £3,000 per year, together with very significant ‘in kind’ support such as the services of the orchestra’s conductor, rehearsal facilities, storage facilities and discounted use of the Charity’s main performance venue. The withdrawal of such support could lead to the Charity’s activities becoming financially unviable. The relationship between Aberystwyth University and the Charity is reviewed by the parties periodically. It is due to be renewed again prior to the start of the academic year 2027-28.
