In addition, OTRL provides professional advice, training, and guidance on the establishment, management, and maintenance of theological libraries, supporting librarians and institutions to use resources effectively and sustainably.

Para 1.17 and 1.19	During the reporting period, OTRL carried out its charitable purposes primarily through the collection, sorting, and redistribution of donated theological books to partner institutions overseas, including seminaries, universities, and theological training centres. The charity coordinated multiple international shipments to regions experiencing economic hardship or disruption due to conflict, ensuring that books reached institutions where they could be actively used for teaching, learning, and research. In addition to physical book provision, OTRL delivered professional library support by advising on cataloguing, classification, book care, and sustainable library systems. This included the provision of training materials and guidance to partner organisations and volunteers involved in establishing or developing theological libraries. These activities directly benefited students, clergy, academics, and church leaders by improving access to theological resources,

		strengthening institutional capacity, and supporting long-term educational sustainability.

They are satisfied that OTRL’s activities provide clear public benefit by advancing education and religious learning, particularly in contexts where financial, infrastructural, or political challenges restrict access to academic resources. The charity’s work benefits a wide range of beneficiaries, including theological students, educators, clergy, and faith communities, and contributes to the wider public good through educational development and environmental sustainability.

Achievements and Performance

Para 1.20	During the year ended 31 March 2025, OTRL supported theological education in Ukraine, Uganda, South Sudan, and Sierra Leonethrough the provision of books and professional library expertise. InUkraine, OTRL coordinatednine consignmentsdelivered to partner institutions in Kyiv, comprising43 boxes containing approximately 1,220 theological books and journals, despite ongoing conflict. These shipments helped to rebuild and sustain library collections disrupted by war. InAfrica, OTRL facilitated the distribution of2,530 theological bookstoUganda and South Sudan. Of these,1,508 books were allocated to institutions in Uganda, strengthening academic provision, while 1,022 bookswere designated for South

Sudan Bethel Theological Seminary to support future library development once appropriate facilities are in place. In Sierra Leone , OTRL contributed professional training, systems, and guidance that enabled the successful cataloguing of 1,197 theological books and the establishment of a theological library at Mount Zion Training Centre. Across all projects, OTRL improved access to high-quality theological resources, strengthened local institutional capacity, and ensured that donated books were used effectively and sustainably. The trustees believe that these activities made a meaningful difference to beneficiaries and advanced the charity’s educational objects for the public benefit.
