Two matters were utstanding for the CIO to be brought into place: 11 For the Charities Commission to approve the CIO and our constitution to allow the CIO to be formed. 21 South Staffs Water Co to allow a variation to the lease to allow the lease for the Sailing Club to be held by the CIO. something their Estates Manager had Iready agreed to in principle he Charities Commission approved the rmatt.on of the CIO on 2nd April 2024 and ssued our ￿giStered charity number. 12 Charity ru5tees were appointed for the CIO at formation. n AGM forthe CIO was held on 30 November 024 when charty trustees were elerted, some etiring by turn and offering re-elecknon. some etiring and some new Trustees standing. There re currently 21 Charity Trustees for the CIO to he pertod endit)g 30" September 2025. he lease has proved much more problematic. rstly South Staffs Water and their legal team re very slow in drafting the lease variation, omething they insisted they should do. Chasing y ourselves and our solicitors was frustrating. uring the past 18 months South Staffs Water licitors have tried to put in clauses which we ould not agree to, for example being a joint arty on otfr insurance which our insU￿r5 WOLtld ot permit. The lease amendment will also move the obligation in our current lease to ave lease trustees, Cur￿ntlY David Thurslield nd David Stanley. However South Staffs Water olicitors tried to insist that the lease transfer was 18ned by one of the sailing Club Trustees who is rbwell and ha5 long since retired as a Trustee and om the club. fter much discussion and negotiation, the ording for the lease amendment and the ran5fer of the lease to the CIO were finally greed betY4een both parties on 8, September 025. Both documents have now been signed by oth parties along with a deed of transfer for sset5 from the limrted company and nincorporated sa41trng club to the CIO.
