Objectives and Activities

Para 1.17 and 1.19	The main activities during the year have been: i) conducting regular acts of worship in accordance with the Chapel’s object; ii) conducting or enabling special services (namings, weddings, funerals and memorial services); iii) providing a location for activities of local community groups (regular groups include Age UK fitness, yoga, art, lace making, breastfeeding support, bereavement support, mindfulness and meditation); (iv) supporting activities of local community groups (e.g. Friends of the Porter Valley, the South Yorkshire Chaplaincy and Listening Service, Fulwood Fete, the Co-op); (iv) maintaining the Chapel premises.

Achievements and Performance

Financial Review
Review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the period	Para 1.21	The Chapel’s finances remain in a healthy state and were further boosted this year by a very generous legacy of £15,906 from the estate of a member of the congregation.

RECEIPTS AND PAYMENTS ACCOUNT FOR THE PERIOD 28 MARCH 2024 TO 30 SEPTEMBER 2024

Independent examiner’s report to the Trustees of Fulwood Old Chapel (Unitarian)

I report to the Trustees on my examination of the accounts of Fulwood Old Chapel (Unitarian) (FOCU) for the period 28 March 2024 to 30 September 2024, which are attached on two pages. During this period FOCU was a charitable incorporated organisation, registered at the Charity Commission. Prior to this it was an excepted charity, under the umbrella of the General Assembly of Unitarian and Free Christian Churches, which is registered at the Charity Commission.

Accounts for the period 1 October 2023 to 27 March 2024, when Fulwood Old Chapel was an excepted charity, have been examined separately and a certificate issued.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the charity Trustees of FOCU you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).

I report in respect of my examination of the FOCU accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner’s statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of FOCU as required by section 130 of the Act; or

2. the accounts do not accord with those records.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
