## **Structure Governance & Management**
The organisation was registered as a foundation Charitable Incorporated Organisation ( **CIO** ) with the Charity Commission on 28 March 2024 with charity number 1207648. It is governed by its constitution.
## **Objectives and Activities**
The Sylvie Nunn Trust was set up by Sylvie’s family, friends and colleagues to honour and continue her legacy. Sylvie was a well renowned charity lawyer and was also very active in the voluntary sector in support of local communities. The objects of the CIO represent Sylvie’s background and her extensive voluntary work in the charity sector.
## **Objects**
The CIO exists to advance a range of exclusively charitable purposes for the public benefit, as determined by the trustees. Its work focuses particularly on supporting education, health, and community cohesion. A key part of the charity’s mission is to promote musical education by providing children and young people with access to musical instruments, tuition, and other learning resources across schools and educational settings. The CIO also seeks to improve public understanding of mental health, with an emphasis on increasing awareness of the benefits of cognitive behavioural therapy. In addition, it is committed to fostering religious and racial harmony by supporting initiatives that deepen public knowledge of different cultures and faiths, highlight both their unique qualities and shared values, and encourage mutual respect. The CIO further aims to enhance public education on the themes of peace and peace movements. These aims are pursued primarily through the provision of grants to charities, organisations, and individuals working in these areas.
## **Main Activities in Relation to our Objects – Achievements and Performance**
The charity is in the process of developing a sustainable balance between fundraising and awards. After an initial period of fundraising we started developing community relationships during the period covered in this report. This allowed us to initiate appropriate awards that advance our charitable objects. We have developed a long-term relationship with the Leeds Community Foundation to match fund their annual Sylvie Nunn Memorial Award. The first award recipient was Afrikindness which is a charity based in Leeds which provides an enabling environment for children and young adults to learn acts of kindness and inspire them to be kind through creative activities that make an impact in their communities.
The charity’s support for the Feversham Academy helped to extend their provision of music education in inner city schools in Bradford organised by Jimmy Rotherham, the music specialist at the academy.

During the period, the charity organised the Sylvie Nunn Trust concert which brought together members of different communities and faiths to provide an afternoon of music and a platform and opportunity for some the of the charity’s grant recipients to perform including performers from the Feversham Academy. This is an annual event that brings together supporters of the charity and grant recipients and provides an opportunity for the charity to raise funds to enable it to continue in its grant making activities.
The trustees have given due regard to the Charity Commission’s published guidance on the public benefit requirement under s17(5) of the Charities Act 2011.

## **Financial Review**
The charity has achieved financial stability with a sustainable balance between fundraising and grant awards. The main sources of income in the period are the transfer from Prism the Gift Fund, donations from the public and fundraising activity through the annual concert. As a grant making charity run by volunteers the overheads are minimal which means that the trustees can maximise the impact of donations received by the charity. The trustees aim to keep a reserves of £10,000 to enable the charity to have the flexibility and opportunity to support suitable projects that may arise.
## **Receipts and Expenditure**
Receipts were mainly from donations and events and in this year and the transfer of the fund from Prism the Gift Fund.
Our total expenditure in the form of grants was: £5,001.50. The charity started awarding grants in February 2025. To date we have made two awards. We paid the Leeds Foundation £2001.50 on 11 February 2025 in support of the Sylvie Nunn Award, an award instigated by them with support from Malcom Lynch of Wrigleys, the first award being made to Afrikindness for its exceptional contribution to inter- and intra-community activity in the Leeds and Bradford communities. On 11 June 2025 we awarded £3000 to the Feversham Academy to support musical education in inner city schools in Bradford. We also paid an advanced partial fee of £50 to Omotola and Friends for their performance at our June 2025 fundraiser at the Kirkgate Centre in Shipley. All other fundraising expenses were covered by the trustees privately and not claimed back from the fund.

## **Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of The Sylvie Nunn Trust**
I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the charity for the year
ended (date) which are set out on pages 5 to 6.
## **Responsibilities and basis of report**
As the charity’s trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).
I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
## **Independent examiner's statement**
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or
2. the accounts do not accord with those records.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
