## 2024 Annual Report 2024 is yet another AD year-Anno Domini, a year of our Lord. It has indeed been a year of God’s further rich grace to us, undeserved and yet lavish. This does not mean it has been free from trials of many kinds, including disappointments and deaths. But even these, whilst difficult to come to terms with, are all part of our Lord’s wise dealings with us; and will be seen as part of the “all things” which He works together for the good of all who both love Him and are called according to His purpose. Amongst these sadnesses was the ‘calling Home’ of Brian Wilkinson who has been the only previous pastor of the church as it has met in the present building. He oversaw the move from the town centre to Reynard Way in 1973. Once again we have “fared sumptuously” on God’s word as it has been prepared and offered to us in full meals and bite-sized snacks. The Bible is discussed and applied at our Community Groups, which also serve as sources of fellowship and encouragement. It is taught in Sunday School and at the Renewed Youth Group on Friday evenings. It is used to encourage us at prayer times. It is reflected in our sung worship. It is expounded at Men’s Breakfasts and Ladies ‘Inspire’ gatherings. It was also offered in an accessible form at the three special needs services: “Easter Cracked”, “Give Thanks” (harvest) and “Christmas Unwrapped”. There has since been an increasing demand for signed interpretation (using British Sign Language) on Sundays. During the week we usually meet in Community Groups. But on four occasions we had missionary speakers; and on the first week of each month we met to pray-four of these mid-week prayer meetings were with other local churches. One of these local churches, (pastorless Pollard Evangelical Church just to the south of Kettering town centre) has received quite a bit of input from preachers from other churches. Andy Boulter had been on the Steering Committee which was set up to guide the church through a period when there were insufficient officers. Early in the year the blessing of the membership was obtained that we would give him to Pollard for up to three years (while retaining eldership at Reynard Way) to help further establish the work. By God’s grace much progress is evident. Our financial and prayer support for missionaries and missions is changing as some needs diminish and others arise. The changes are not yet complete. But we were enabled to collect and send £1,232.58 (and an additional amount was given from the missionary fund) for the Poor Fund connected to the Good News Hospital in Mandritsara, Madagascar. Our local community connections have been maintained and (in some areas) are increasing. - Services at local Care Homes continue; and we went to two more for Christmas carol singing. - The Bible Exhibition was visited by three local primary academies; and one of these also came on a separate occasion to visit the building and hear a Bible story. - The NHS uses the building twice a week for diabetes clinics. - We make monthly donations to a local Food Bank - We sang carols around the estate before Christmas - We use the ‘Obelisk Community’ Facebook page. . Again this year we packed shoe boxes with Christmas gifts for Romanian families. Throughout the year, our Evangelist, Sam Baxter, has led a team of up to 20 from various churches, in town centre evangelism. Our town (and the whole nation) is in great need of genuine good news. This is declared by preaching, personal conversation and literature in English and other languages. A new event this year, and coinciding with the Olympic Games, was the Holiday Club: ‘Going for Gold’, for primary-aged children. It was very popular and spawned an after-school club on Wednesdays. This is going well and also attracts Mums who, rather than going home and coming out again, stay for a cuppa and a chat, while the children enjoy the club. The Ladies’ Meal is now well-established in early November and has become a ‘marker’ for Christmas publicity to be ready. A large number of ladies attended including a good number who don’t attend on Sundays. Christmas again crowns the year. We had more events and larger attendances.. This year also has seen seven people baptised at services in April and November, and three become members. Current membership is 71. Sunday attendances are approximately 130 and 80 morning and evening.
