Introduction

Shropshire Drama Company is a Charitable Incorporation Organisation (CIO) which was registered with the Charity Commission in March 2024 and is governed by a constitution as a Foundation CIO.

The general aims and objectives of Shropshire Drama Company are:

Statement of Public Benefit

Shropshire Drama Company provides public benefit by advancing dramatic art within the United Kingdom and by endeavouring to maintain low ticket prices for their productions, thus making it more affordable for all people to enjoy dramatic performances.

Activities

Dramatic Performances

The play Bouncers by John Godber was toured twice during 2025. The two tours covered five different venues in Shropshire and one venue in Powys, in order to reach residents across Shropshire and into mid-Wales.

Play Readings

These are open to both members and non-members who have expressed an interest in joining SDC. Three play readings were held in 2025:

Information about Shropshire Drama Company’s activities both past and present is available via social media. Activity for 2025 was as follows:

SDC Website – SDC had 19 full members and a further 327 supporters. Membership/Audition Enquiries – There were 6 enquiries, an increase of 3 from 2024 Newsletter (Sent to members and supporters) – This had a 61% open rate, a decrease from 67% in 2024.

Facebook Site – This had 694 followers, an increase of 19 from 2024. X (Twitter) – SDC had 1092 followers, a decrease of 33 from 2024. Instagram – SDC had 95 followers, an increase of 15 from 2024.

Financial Summary

At the beginning of the year the company’s assets stood at £8,542.75. During 2025 SDC had an income of £5,828.37 and expenses totalling £3,684.04, the company’s assets at the year-end stand at £9,143.61 plus net outstanding income of £865.30. (See the Financial Statement for details.)
