## **Trustees**

The Trustees who served during the period were:

## **Principal address**

71 Hurst Green Road Hurst Green Surrey RH8 9AJ

## **Governing document and constitution**

The charity was formed on 19 March 2024 under the standard Charity Commission CIO Foundation model. Prior to that date, Creative Community operated as a community group. On conversion to a CIO, the assets of the group were transferred to Creative Community Hurst Green CIO.

## **Recruitment of Trustees**

Trustees are appointed by the other trustees.

## **Objectives and Aims**

The main objective of the CIO is the advancement of education of the public living in Hurst Green, Surrey and the surrounding area, in the subjects of arts, crafts and horticulture.

The activities carried out by the CIO also benefit the residents by helping with social isolation and lonliness, and improving the area in which they live.

## **Achievement and performance**

The CIO is operated by a small number of dedicated Trustees and volunteers.

Karen Sorenson was a key Trustee who was instrumental in converting the group to a CIO. Sadly she died not long after the CIO was registered. She is sorely missed.

During the period, the CIO has continued to be the Station Partner at Hurst Green Station, organising the station displays in the waiting room. This enables local schools, organisations and individuals to showcase some of the lovely art work that is produced in the local area.

The charity has worked with Oxted Parish Council to build and maintain planters in the area outside the Pollards Oak shops. They have also taken over the maintenance of the recently refurbished brick planters in the same courtyard area. This is a significantly improvement to the whole site and has provided a space where people can sit and chat. All the work has been carried out by volunteers and local children have been involved in bulb planting with the help of Surrey Wildlife Trust. This also provides pollinating flowers and plants to improve the biodiversity of the area.

The charity also provides support and funding for the Community Garden adjacent to the Hurst Green Community Centre. Currently any further expenditure on the garden is on hold pending a decision on the proposed development of Hurst Green Community Centre.

The charity has also run craft workshops at local events, such as card making, sunflower collages, peg people and rag wreath making. It also organised Carol Singing in the Courtyard together with Oxted Band.
