## **Governing Document** 

Hedingham Heritage Centre is governed by its constitution, adopted on 7[th] September 2023. It operates as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, registered 18[th] March 2024 

## **Our Aims and Objectives** 

To promote and preserve the heritage, history and arts of the Hedinghams and the surrounding area for the benefit and education of the public with the collection, recording, study and display of objects, information and media. 

## **Overview of 2024-2025** 

The charity was officially established in March 2024, making this our first year. The progress of the public facing element of our premises remains tied to the construction of the unbuilt local Health Centre as part of the building is currently occupied by Doctor’s consulting rooms. 

The upstairs of the premises has been made available to the Heritage Centre, and this has been adopted as our office and archive. Good initial acquisitions have been made and with the support of local parish and district council grants, equipment and archiving software has allowed us to begin cataloguing and researching the growing collection. 

Good links with the community have been made through our contacts with attendance at parish showcases and other events including the St James Fair and Hedingham Folk Day. We held a charity book sale with a collection of donated books; this raised £373.59 in total.

Development of policies and steering groups have been initiated, and good progress has been made laying the groundwork for the future of the Centre. 

The Heritage Centre has begun to take on elements of the running cost of our part of the building and building maintenance and decoration was paid for by the landlord (Trustee: Brian Day), we extend our thanks for his support for the project. 

Our plans for the year 2025-26 are to continue the archiving and cataloguing work and begin designing our opening exhibition to allow us to open soon after the acquisition of our ground floor premises. We plan further recruitment of Trustees and Volunteers to allow for the retirement of outgoing Trustees soon as well as to assist with the design of exhibition content, cataloguing of artefacts and ongoing support of the Heritage Centre.

## **Reserves Policy** 

The Charity intends to hold extended reserves to fund future refurbishment and set up costs for the installation and opening of the exhibition space and for set up costs in the archive. Once set up reserves will be reduced to a standard level of around 18 months running costs to allow for a consistent income/expenditure pattern to develop.
