-
The Charity is governed by Constitution of a Charitable Incorporated Organisation dated 3[rd] November 2023.
-
The Charity is managed day to day by a committee formed from volunteers within the Band. When new Trustees are needed volunteers are sought from within the Band.
-
The Band has continued to meet twice weekly throughout the year to rehearse and has performed at a number of concerts and fund-raising events in the South Yorkshire/North Nottinghamshire region as well as performing at other events including the Durham Miners’ Gala. The Band contested in the Yorkshire Regional Championships in March 2025. We have been able to engage with new audiences at different locations such as Aston and long-standing relationships with other communities have continued to flourish through our concert performances.
-
The Band continues to support and attract members with a diverse range of ages, abilities and backgrounds, It has been able to loan instruments to some volunteers/band members who would otherwise be unable to join the band due to the expensive nature of the instruments. The Band has been successful in recruiting new members this past year and is presently in a strong position playerwise with no vacant seats.
-
The Training Band open to those aged from about 7 upwards has continued to meet weekly. Tuition is offered and instruments loaned to some members of the Training Band. Advertising on social media is used to try and encourage new members to take up our offer of tuition to learn how to read music and play a brass instrument.
-
The Trustees are aware of the Charity Commission’s public benefit guidance and have continued to consider this guidance where appropriate.
-
This financial year the Charity had an overspend on expenditure over income. This was due largely to running costs incurred for rehearsals along with some capital expenditure needed to keep the Bandroom in a reasonable condition. The overspend was covered by cash reserves. Steps have been undertaken to try and balance the income and expenditure in the present year. The Charity has recently applied to be registered for Gift Aid with HMRC and it is hoped that this will help.
