The charity is governed by its Constitution, adopted on registration with the Charity Commission. The trustees are responsible for the overall strategic direction and governance of the charity, ensuring cornpliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Trustees are recruited through open expression of interest, often following involvement as volunteers or community partners. Appointment is confirmed by vote of the existing trustee board in line with the Constitution. Day-to-day management of activities is delegated to working groups and volunteers, overseen by trustees. Objectives and Activities Congleton Pride exists to promote equality, diversity, and inclusion for LGBTQ+ people and allies in Congleton and the wider area, through: Staging an annual Pride event in Congleton. Running community engagement activities throughout the year. Raising awareness of LGBTQ+ issues. Working with schools, councils, businesses, and local organisations to promote acceptance and reduce discriminatLOn. During this reporting period, Congleton Pride focused on preparing and delivering the annual Congleton Pride Festival (held in luly 2024], alongside a programrne of community events, outreach, and awareness-raising activities. Achievements and Performance Successfully staged Congleton Pride Festival 2024, attended by around 4,000 people, featuring 12 performers across two stages, community stalls, and inclusive activities. Provided financial and logistlC21 support to Holmes Chapel's first-ever Pride event, helping to extend LGBTQ+ visibility and community support in the wider Cheshire area. Continued to strengthen partnerships with local councils, schools, and businesses, increasing sponsorship and awareness. Launched and ran monthly outreach sessions, branded Caffeine Connections, hosted at the United Reformed Church. These provided a welcoming social space for LGBTQ+ people and allies to meet, connect, and support one another. 30 volunteers contributed their time and skills to help deliver events and outreach activities. Increased visibility of LGBTQ+ people in Congleton, contributing to reduced isolation and irnproved cornmunity cohesion. Public Benefit Statement The trustees confirm that they have referred to the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit when planning and delivering activities. Congleton Pride's activities directly support its charitable purposes by: Providing safe, inclusive spaces for LGBTQ+ people and allies. Educating the wider public about equality and diversity. Challenging prejudice and promoting acceptance within the community. Supporting mental wellbeing and reducing isolation for LGBTQ+ individuals. The impact is visible both in the number of people attending our events and in the positive feedback received from participants, partner organisations, and the local community. Financial Review Congleton Pride is reliant on grants, donations, sponsorship, and fundraising events. Incorne (12/03/24- 30/11/24): £16,786 Expenditure (12/03/24- 30/11/24): £11,456 Net position: £5,330 surplus The charity was initially funded by a transfer of £7,275 from our predecessor organisation, the Congleton Pride Charitable Trust. During this reporting period, we also received £3,356 from local government sponsorship and £5,640 from Ioc21 company sponsorship, alongside donations and other fundraising income. The charity ended the reporting period with a positive balance. The trustees, policy is to maintain reserves sufficient to cover at least three months of essential running costs, ensuring stability for future events and commitments. No significant debts were held at the end of the reporting period. Custodian Trustee Funds Congleton Pride does not hold funds as a custodian trustee for any other organisation. Conclusion The trustees are proud of the charity's achievements between March and November 2024. Despite challenges facing the voluntary sector, Congleton Pride continues to grow in strength, visibility, and community support. The work ofthe charity directly benefits LGBTQ+ people and the wider cornmunity by fostering inclusion, acceptance, and celebration.
