OBJECTIVES ACTIVITIES ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Thc Guyana UK Social Dcvclopmcnt Association (GUSDA) was sct up in 1995 as an
intormal group ot promoters & DJS who wanted to 'give something back to the
community. The group later became constituted as a N'oluntary organisation and
now a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (cio) as of March 2024.
The two key objectives of the Charity are..
l. the provision or assisting in the provision of opportunities for sport, recreation
and Icisurc time aetivitics primarily, but not CXLIu5ivcly, for pcoplc of Guyanc5C
heritage in the UK, in the interest of social welfare and with the object of improving
the conditions of life for such persons.
2. the prevention or relief of poverty in Guyana by providing graiits to individuals
in need andlor charities, or other organisalions working to preveiil or relieve poverty.
In 2024 we held our two annual flagship events, the Guyana folk Festival in May and
thc Guyana Family Sports & Fun Day in July.
The Folk Festival was one of the most well attcndcd and dynamic event the
organisation has hosted, featuring international and UK based Guyanese artists. We
were fortunate to have great weather for the 'Fun Day, in July ￿,here patrons of all
ages aiid physical abilities revelled in rraditional Guyanese and uiiiversal games, music
and enjoycd a variety of culinary dishes.

Tru5tee5' Report continued
For the Period from 7th Trlarch 2024 to 15th January 2025
The Charity's increasing social presence through successful fund-raising activities has
enablcd us to makc donations lo educational projects ill Guyana and fund and facilitate
thc shipping and distribution of houschold and sporting equipment to Guyana.
The organisation's enhanced profile as a Charity has also attracted interest from public
and private donors which is providing a strong financial base from which we are
able to plan larger social impact projects in Guyana to be realised in 2025-26.
An intangible but anecdotally clear iinpact of GUSDA'S a¢hievements in 2024-25 is
the joy and sense of pride in Guyanese cultural heritage and of belonging to a vibrant
community in the UK that the events bring. This fosters confidence in self identity,
promotes inclusion and participation aiid cnhanccs social cohesion in an incrcasingly
digital world of isolation and iiitolerance.
The impact of GUSDA'S work in ILS first year as a registered Charity, as summarised
above, is perhaps best ¢aptured and conveyed in the images featured on our new
website www.gusda.uk illustrating how the organisation is indeed 'Building a stronger
community,.
STRUCTURE, GOVERNAIYCE AND MAiYAGEMENT

In this connection, the controls in place include regular updates to Trustees
on our financial position, the preparation of fornial agendas for Board ineetings
which highlight areas of concern and fornial approval procedures for financial aiid
