Objectives and Activities:
The lake district ski club was founded as an unincorporated members club in the 1930s to provide skiing facilities on Raise, which is a fell in the English Lake District and part of the Helvellyn range. It has operated a ski tow on Raise for many years. In appropriate conditions, the tow is open to all to use, subject only to a limit on numbers for safety reasons.The club has now converted to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. The CIO was formed in March 2024. The assets of the members club were transferred to the CIO on 1 July 2025. As from that date, the CIO will maintain and operate the tow and associated infrastructure. During the period covered by this report though, the CIO was dormant save for the grant to it by the freeholders of a new licence to retain and operate the tow for a period of 15 years from 1 May 2025, which replaced the previous licence granted to the old members club, on the expiry of that licence
Achievements and Performance:
The Charity was dormant throughout the period save for the grant of the new licence which will enable the Charity to perform its stated objectives throughout the licence period
Financial Review:
As the Charity was dormant throughout the period, it had no income and no expenditure
Structure and Mangement:
The Charity is governed by its constitution dated 6 September 2023. The Charity is managed by its trustees. The Trustees as at 30 June 2025 were William Frazer Adams, Colin David Bainbridge, James David Charles Blacow, Peter Edward Stephenson Briggs, Paul Goodwin, Eleanor Frances Rose Horsley, Michael HughSweeney, David John Monteith, Bernhardt Ressel, Ian Morley, Michaela Marie-Helene Paternoster, Michael John Lynch, Stuart Sharp, Eleanor Fawcett Unthank and Gerard Anthony Unthank
Accounts for the period 5/3/2024 to 30/6/2025:
The Charity had no income and incurred no expenditure throughout the period. The costs associated with the grant of the new tow licence were met by the members club
