Silk Brass Band Charity No.. 1207294 Trustees, Annua l Report For the Year Ended 31 December 2024 l. Structure, Governance & Management Independent registered charity based in Marton, Macclesfield. Governed by volunteer trustees, supported by officers and the Musical Direttor. Approximately 30 volunteers (players and supporters) contribute to charitable activities. Twice-weekly rehearsals maintain musical standards and community engagement. 2. Objectives & Activities Object5'. To promote and advance brass music, performance and education. Activities.. Public concerts, contest participation, remembrance and civic events, and edLJcational collaboration with youth bands. 3. Key Achievements in 2024 - Contest5 North West Area (Februaryl.. competed in the I" Section achieving 12th place overall on High Peak. Whit Friday Ilunel.. won Best 1st Sertion at Grotton, Scouthead, Heyrod and Carrbrook. NEMBBA Contest (Novemberl.. 2nd place with Diadem of Gold,- Adrian Horn (soprano cornet) awarded Best Instrumentalist. Concerts & Events Joint concert with Magic Voices and Chordiality Choirs in May and September respectively Joint concert with Mactlesfield YoLrth Brass Band in June. Remembrance Concert and Macclesfield parade leadership in November. Busy Christmas period with sell out concert at St Michaels Church, M3cclesfield and regular concerts at Bosley Church, Daneside Theatre and Devil's Arse, Castleton. Touring Belgium tour (August), including L35t Post Ceremony at Menin Gate and memorial concerts. People New players featured at major concerts. Annual awards celebrated musical and volunteer contributions. First aid training day organised with Chesire First Aid for volunteers arkd other local participants.

At the year end, reseNe5 were in line with this policy, ensuring the band can withstand unforeseen costs le.g. instrument repairs & replacements, venue cancellations, or reduced income). Government contracts/grants: None receNed. Employment- No employees,. activities delivered entirely by volunteers. 5. Risk Management Key risks identified.. Reliance on volunteer membership and condurtors. Costs of instruments and travel for contests and tours. Audience engagement post-pandemic. Mitigations include strong community links, active recruitment. prudent budgeting, and maintaining reserves in line with policy. 6. Policies & Governance Internal financial controls in place. Policies on safeguarding, risk management, bullying & harassment, and social media are active. Resetves policy.. Trustees have set a target of £IOk, which was achieved at year end, providing a stable buffer for future operations. 7. Plans for 2025 Continued participation in Whit Friday and regional contests. Expanded concert programme and further collaborations. Maintain reserve5 in line with policy while exploring new income streams. Develop outreach to young players and in partnership with Macclesfield Youth to ensure future sUStain3bilitv.
