## **The Referees’ Association Benevolent Fund. Annual Report 2024-25**
## Purpose.
The purpose of The Referees’ Association Benevolent Fund is to provide financial assistance for full members of The Referees’ Association and their families in cases of need. The Fund is administered by a group of Trustees who are responsible for determining, upon receipt of an application for assistance, whether a grant is justified and the level of assistance to be awarded.
## Trustees.
The Trustees who have been involved through the whole year are Ian Davies, Andy French, John Harvey, Mike Greenyer, Bob Hurren, Neil Meadows, Bob Moore, Reg Pullen, Barry Rowson, Iain Tucker and John Wilson. Bob Hurren, John Wilson, Neil Meadows and Bob Moore had retired by rotation; all indicated their wish to continue as Trustees and the R.A. Board re-appointed them all to continue for a further three years.
Chris Clarke continued as Clerk to the Trustees.
The Trustees met twice in the year, in June 2024 and in November 2024, both via Zoom.
The Trustees use the services of an independent financial advisor from DTE to assist with investment strategy.
## Financial Report.
The accounts presented are for the 12 months to March 31[st] 2025. They show a deficit of just over £2000.
During the course of the last financial period the trustees awarded four grants totalling £6500. Expenses for the year were the annual fee to DTE only.
Income from donations was £1800 which included a bequest from a late member and a sum from the closure of a LRA. There was a good dividend from the shares held in ABRDN. There was an increase in the value of investments of over £3000, not enough to cover the value of the grants made. The increase in value continues the improvement noted last year albeit at a lower rate but the recent turmoil in the financial markets is a cause for concern. The assets remain in a fairly safe investment vehicle within Tatton Investment Management. The ABRDN shares have remained untouched.
Total assets operated by the Fund were just over £109000 at the end of March 2025.
