Dinas Powys Rotary CIOwas formed in March 2024 and took over the charitable
work ofthe Rotary Club of Dinas Powys from the Rotary Club of Dinas Powys
Charitable Trust on 1" July 2024 after banking faGilities for charitable trusts
became increasingiydifficult to obtain. As such it took over both the objectives
and assets ofthe charity it replaced.
The objectives of the charityto a large extent mirror the objectives of all Rotary
clubs. but with specific reference to the area in which the Rotaryclub operates.
They are:
1. To provide support to the poorand needy
2. To support young people and organisations which provide help and
development opportunities forthe young.
3. To provide development opportunities foryoungpeople
4. To support organisations providing supportto the elderly
5. To support other charities which in the trustees view meet with the
charity's aims
6. To support Rotary International's fight against polio and response to
international disasters.
The trustees have adopted a policy that except for disaster relief. the priority for
support and donations will be made in order of preference to individuals or
organisations in the locality of:
a) Dinas Powys and Sully
b) Vale of Glamorgan and Cardiff
c) Wales
d} United Kingdom
e) Worldwide
In fulfillingthe objectives as set out above. the charity trustees have had regard to
the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit.

Achievempnts
The trustees allocated funds available to support the activities identified above:
Support to the poorand needy
Donations offood to the localvale Foodbank supportingthose in need in
Dinas Powys. Sully. and other parts of the Vale of Glamorgan- Toys for kids
in women's refuges at Christmas. Cost £2398
&upporting Young People
Donations to Dinas Powys Scouts, BarryAir Cadets, Penarth Guides. Sully
Primary School. Ty Hafan children's hospice. and taking children from
Ysgol YDeri special needs school for a day out. Cost £3790
D.eveloping Young People
Providing leadership training for two selected students at the Rotary
Leadership course. and providingdictionaries to students in local primary
schools. Cost £1649
Supportto the Elderty
Providing funds to local veteran's charities and the Royal British Legion.
Cost £1530
Supportto other Charities
Donations to other charities included Young Livesvs Cancer. Prostate
Cymru, Sandville Self Help Foundation, Crohn's Colitis UK. Ronald
McDonald House. Barrywar Museum. MND. and Stjohn Ambulance.
Support was also provided fora local beach clean and flood damage in a
local primary school. Cost £3450
Qi88ster Relief and other International Support
Donations were given to Shelterbox. and DEC (Disasters Emergency
Committee) followingthe Myanmar earthquake. Support was also
provided to the Rotary Foundation in its fight against polio. the KIVA
microfinance scheme which provides loans to 3rd world entrepreneurs.
and the Footprints Family Gharity in Kenya. Cost £3754
All these causes are to the public benefit in one fomi or another.

Finanoial.Review
As stated above Dinas Powys RotaryCIO took over the charitable activities from
the Rotary club of Dinas Powys Charitable Trust on July 1" 2024 and inherited the
funds from that charity. amountingto £24.138.95
Fundraising duringthe yearfrom a Dickensian Fayre at Christmas. a Santa Sleigh
Ride, the annual Classic Car Show added £6,142. And this was further
augmented by donations. gift aid. and savings interest for a total of £7,222.
However donations and other expenses during the financial year exceeded
income by1£9.348) reducingthe funds atyear end to £14.791- a reduction of
over £9.000 on funds available at the start ofthe year. This was primarily due to
reduced income atthe main fundraisingevent towards the end ofthe year due to
inclement weather and will reduce spending available in the coming year.
Of this £14.791 the charity holds in reserve £5000which is necessaryto finance
the next Classic car Show.

The charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation and as such the governing
document is a CIO-Association.
The CIO is one year old and currently has three initial Trustees plus the serving
president is an ex officio trustee. Additionaltrustees may be elected at a duly
onstituted meeting. The chaiity must have a minimum of three trustees.
