## **Bradford KPA – Trustees Annual Report** ## **29[th] February 2024 -31[st] Jan 2025** This trustees’ annual report complies with ‘The Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008’ and the applicable SORP ( Statement of Recommended Practice). ## **Objectives & Activities** ## **Our Purpose** "The objects of the CIO are to preserve and protect good health for the public benefit of patients living with kidney disease, for those on dialysis and their families/carers who attend St Lukes Dialysis Unit, BRI ADU, Ward 15, and Skipton Satellite Unit and live permanently or temporarily in the Bradford West Yorkshire area by providing such advice, information and support as the trustees may in their absolute discretion determine”. ## **Activities** Organising fundraising events such as raffles, bake sales and tombolas through the year in order to provide day trips to include families/carers and friends and other items for patients. Sharing Information & Awareness of CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) by visiting St Luke’s Renal Unit, BRI (Bradford Royal Infirmary) and Skipton Satellite Unit. Promoting our charities work and receiving donations. The Trustees have complied with the duty in section 4 of the 2006 Act to have due regard to the commission’s public benefit guidance when exercising any powers or duties to which the guidance is relevant. ## **Achievements & Performance** Throughout the year, we held several fundraising and awareness days. These events brought together lots of people, fostering a sense of community and support. These fundraising activities, along with donations, generated income to be able to take patients and one companion each on a day trip to the coast, providing a much-needed break and a chance to relax by the seaside. Participants enjoyed the opportunity to connect with others in a supportive environment. The trip not only offered respite from their daily challenges but also created lasting memories and strengthened the sense of community among attendees. It was a heartwarming experience that highlighted the importance of well being and support for patients. Many of the patients told us that they do not get the opportunity to be able to do this, so this was a great achievement in our first few months of being a new charity. We also funded a free raffle for patients on World Kidney Day in 2024. To celebrate the hospital unit’s 30[th] anniversary, we hosted a special event that brought together staff, patients, and families to reflect on the unit's achievements and the countless lives it has helped. We also launched our own website : **www.bradfordkpa.org** making it easier for everyone to access information about our initiatives and events. Looking ahead, we are excited to build on these successes and continue our mission in 2025. ## **Financial Review** Donations & Fundraising £4492 -£998 (cost of fundraising) £3494 Less Expenses £1058 **Expenses include:** Printing, Postage & Stationary, Advertising, Accountancy, Legal & Professional, Subscriptions and Cleaning Retained Income C/F £2436 ## **Our Donations & Fundraising comprised of the following:** |Donations|£2500| |---|---| |Rafle Ticket Sales|£1149| |Bake Sale|£150| |Fundraising|£693| **Bradford KPA does not have a reserves policy.** The trustees feel that this is unnecessary as we don’t have any regular outgoings, and we would only aim to spend within our means. ## **Structure, Governance & Management** CIO - FOUNDATION Registered 29 Feb 2024 as amended on 05 Mar 2024 as amended on 19 Mar 2024 as amended on 11 May 2024 Bradford KPA is a CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation) whose only voting members are its charity trustees. ## **Appointment of New Charity Trustees** Details of how new charity trustees are recruited is set out in our Constitution under section 10 & 11 (See below) ## **10. Appointment of charity trustees** (1) Apart from the first charity trustees, every trustee must be appointed for a term of 3 years by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity trustees. (2) In selecting individuals for appointment as charity trustees, the charity trustees must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO. ## **11. Information for new charity trustees** The charity trustees will make available to each new charity trustee, on or before his or her first appointment: (a) a copy of the current version of this constitution; and (b) a copy of the CIO’s latest Trustees’ Annual Report and statement of accounts. Each new trustee will be asked to read at least Section 2 of the Charity Commissions Guidance - The Essential Trustee: what you need to know, what you need to do.
