Charity Objective:
To advance the Islamic religion in the West Oxford area for the benefit of the public in particular, but not exclusively, through the holding of prayer meetings, religious education, public celebration of religious festivals and interfaith activities to enlighten others about the Islamic religion.
Structure and Management:
WOIC is managed solely by its trustees. No trustee is remunerated. There are no employees.
What We Do:
West Oxford Islamic Club (WOIC) advances its charitable objectives through a comprehensive programme of religious, educational, and community activities, all designed to benefit the public and promote unity.
Daily Congregational Prayers: Held every morning and evening at Seacourt Hall, Botley, West Way, OX2 0HW. These sessions are open to all, providing the local community with the opportunity to observe prayers in congregation, which is considered especially virtuous in Islam.
Friday Sermon and Congregational Prayer: Conducted every Friday afternoon at Dean Court Community Centre, Pinnocks Way, Oxford, OX2 9DG. Includes a lecture on Islamic teachings based on the Quran, Hadith, and Sunnah, followed by a group prayer led by an experienced Imam.
Islamic Study Classes for Children: Held every Sunday during term time. Targeted at children aged 6–10, following the Safar Academy curriculum, which teaches key Muslim values such as God-consciousness, respect, tolerance, and mercy.
Eid Prayers and Celebrations: Organised twice a year to mark the end of Ramadan and Hajj.
Promotion of Welfare and Unity: Friday prayers and study circles address social issues, promote charity, and encourage unity.
Interfaith Activities: Every Ramadan, WOIC invites local neighbours of all faiths to the Botley Community Iftaar, fostering understanding and unity through shared meals and conversation.
Communication and Outreach: WOIC maintains active WhatsApp groups to communicate prayer times, events, and community functions, ensuring effective outreach and engagement.
Achievements in 2024:

Maintained daily congregational prayers and weekly Friday sermons.

Ran Islamic educational clubs for children, with 12 children regularly attending Sunday classes.

Raised donations to host Ramadan Iftaar events.

Organised inclusive Eid prayers and celebrations.

Hosted the Botley Community Iftaar, welcoming neighbours of all faiths and backgrounds.
