This staned In 2017 wheii a group of church leader8 met with leaders from Nottingham City Council and asked the question how could the church support the work of the Council better?Tho answerwas clear.'we need more foster -tartod. In 2021 we started conversations with Nottinghamshire Countycouncil before startinga contr¥ctworkingwith them in November 2022 which is ongoing. Thls approach saves Ihe authorities hundreds of thousands of pounds each yeAr: We estimate we save the local authorityon average £700" per child per week when compared with that child going to an IFA {Independeni Fotsi¥iiiig Ag¥iiGyl We do this by recruiting foster Carers for the local authority and retaining current councll carers So far in our funded areas we have recruited 35 carers for Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County Councils. Of these. 4 households were approved as cyrers in tho year. In Derby in our unfunded capacitywe have also recruited we hove recruited some carers. In this period, we also held PR4YJANUARY, building on the success ot a year betore. engaging churches and individuals irb praying for ourwork. producing a prayer ijiary and holding weekly online prayer meetin88. In 2024 we increased our Fosteringsundayofferfrom one Sundayto 3 Sundays, providing speakers around the theme ot-Radical Hospitality.. producing a video that showed a table wilh mdny place settings to represent the 1500 children in care across the City 8nd Counry. In the County, we engaged with 13 churches overthis 3 week period who shared the video andjor had a spèaker. We also engaged many church leaders from all denominations to mako short reols to share on soci81 medi8 across fostering fortnight. Developing these contacts with church leaders has increased reach as theyand theirchurches have shared th8vid8os. This has been a big success. reaching 1000s on social media and increasing our reach and numberoflollowers. We alsowere interviewed on NottsTV as part of the oompoign We also made a few keyconnections, notablywith Ihe Diocese of Southwell and the Methodist District tor Notts and Derbyshire. These connections are wideninq our reach as vje are siipported by key denomination8. We spoke at the Meihodist Disirlct safeguarding onference. and most deanerysynod meetings 8¢ross the Anglican diocese. We have also grown ourvolunteer base, particularly around social media, and supporting foster carers. Ourfirstfoster carers in the Countywere approved as carers. and we 88ined momentum with 4 more familie¥ seriou¥ly Gon#idering f03tering in the County. We h8ve 8180 worked with Luke Goss on a consullancy basisto evaluate ourwork and strengthen what we 81readyoffer.
