On occasion we work alongside local vets, local authorities and where necessary, the Police with providing a safe haven for owner surrenders, strays and cats who’s owners are unfortunately deceased. Minnies will assess, rehabilitate, facilitate necessary medical treatment and then safely rehome the cats that have been surrendered into our care. When funds allow we assist local communities by carrying out trap, neuter and return schemes within our local area |

Achievements and Performance
| SORP reference | ||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | We have had a successful second year and have gone from strength to strength. Our support network is growing and Minnies Haven has worked hard to achieve the good reputation it holds amongst local people and professional from the animal welfare world that we work alongside. We have assessed, rehabilitated, provided medical treatment via our partner vet, neutered, chipped, provided flea and worm treatments, and rehomed many cats and kittens who were lucky enough to find their way into Minnies Haven Cat Rescue. As with any rescue, there were cats we couldn’t help, despite our best efforts, but we did ensure that the unfortunate ones were loved and cared for during their time with us, however short that was. |
Additional information (optional) You may choose to include further statements where relevant about:
Achievements against objectives set |
Para 1.41 |
We have gone over and above all our expectations and objectives. |
|---|---|---|
| Performance of fundraising activities against objectives set |
Para 1.41 | We have not been lucky enough to receive any grants yet, but our fundraising volunteers have worked tirelessly to ensure we have had enough funds to provide the cats in our care with the necessary veterinary care when they needed it, in addition to the food, litter and other supplies to keep them comfortable whilst in our care (Foster Homes). |

Financial Review
| Financial Review | ||
|---|---|---|
| Review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the period |
Para 1.21 | Despite a massive pull on our finances, we have remained in a positive position over this financial period |
| Statement explaining the policy for holding reserves stating why they are held |
Para 1.22 | Animal welfare never follows a pattern, so you can never really plan ahead. We deal with emergency situations on a regular basis, which inevitably bring vets bills with them. We aim to work within our means but don’t cherry pick the cases we help based on costs. To ensure we keep our heads above the rising tide, we keep a reserve of funds to cover for unplanned intakes |
| Amount of reserves held | Para 1.22 | At least £1000 |
| Reasons for holding zero reserves |
Para 1.22 | |
| Details of fund materially in deficit |
Para 1.24 | |
| Explanation of any uncertainties about the charity continuing as a going concern |
Para 1.23 | N/A |
Additional information (optional) You may choose to include further statements where relevant about:
The charity’s principal sources of funds (including any fundraising) |
Para 1.47 |
Our only source of funds thus far are donations, gift aid and the tireless efforts of our fundraising volunteers. |
|---|---|---|
| Investment policy and objectives including any social investment policy adopted |
Para 1.46 | |
| A description of the principal risks facing the charity |
Para 1.46 | Cats being abandoned is on the increase, the public are not neutering their cats so thousands of unplanned and unwanted kittens are being born with nowhere to go. Feral colonies are increasing in size as they breed quickly and their numbers are added to by strays/abandoned cats. Animal welfare charities are drowning under the demand for assistance. The situation will only get worse. |
