Financial Review:

Financial Position:

During the financial year ending 10.11.24, the charity did not engage in any trading activities and therefore did not generate any income from charitable operations. There are no outstanding debts

Reserves Policy:

As the charity has not commenced trading during the financial year ending 10.11.24, no income has been generated from charitable activities.

## Principal Funding Sources:

During the financial year ending 10.11.24, the charity did not commence trading and therefore did not receive income from charitable activities or fundraising efforts. The trustees continue to explore sustainable funding opportunities to support future operations, including grant applications.

## Future Plans: Commencing Trading Activities

The Trustees have carefully considered the long-term sustainability and growth of North East United and believe that introducing a new income stream through trading activities will significantly enhance our ability to achieve our charitable objectives.

## Rationale for Trading:

The decision to commence trading is driven by the desire to diversify our income sources, reduce reliance on traditional fundraising, and provide additional, unrestricted funds directly supporting our charitable work. We anticipate that profits generated will allow us to expand our services, invest in new equipment, open further stores and reach more beneficiaries.

## Nature of Proposed Trading:

We plan to engage in pre-loved donated furniture, clothing, electrical goods and bric-abrac. This will be classified as non-primary purpose trading and will be undertaken within the legal framework for charities.

## Risk Management and Due Diligence:

The Trustees have conducted a thorough assessment of the potential risks associated with these trading activities, including financial viability, market competition, and potential reputational impact. Measures to mitigate these risks have been identified and incorporated into our planning. We have consulted with professional advisors regarding the legal and tax implications of this venture.

## Structure for Trading:

Initially, the trading activities will be carried out directly by the charity, taking advantage

of the small trading exemption where applicable. As the scale of trading expands, the Trustees will review the suitability of establishing a separate trading subsidiary to manage these operations, ensuring all legal and tax requirements are met and the charity's assets are protected.

Business Planning and Profit Utilisation:

A detailed business plan has been developed, outlining our objectives, income projections, and operational strategies for the trading venture. All profits generated from these activities will be gifted to North East United to be used exclusively for the charitable purposes outlined in our governing document.

## Accountability:

The Trustees are committed to ensuring that the charity complies with all legal and regulatory requirements for reporting. This report and the accompanying financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice (FRS 102) applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (Charities SORP (FRS 102)).
