To promote for the benefit of the inhabitants of Kimberley and the surrounding area the provision of facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation for the public at large in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the condition of life of the said inhabitants.

The Recreation Ground is maintained as an outdoor space and area of
recreation for the residents of Kimberley and the surrounding area.
The space includes:
•	A children’s play area comprising play equipment and a grassed
	area
•	A multi-use games area
•	A bowling facility including a club house
•	A football pitch, pavilion and changing facilities
•	A pétanque area
•	A public access footpath through the site.
•	Parking for users of the sports facilities
Clubs on the site have provided services to the wider community:
•	Most of the football games are free to enter
•	Annual Presentation events for more than one club take place in
	the football area
•	Kimberley Bowling Club has offered free to enter trials.

. The Trust has continued to maintain the facilities on the site with the support of Kimberley Town Council, ensuring play equipment is regularly inspected, and repairs to all area of the Recreation Ground are carried out promptly.

In its second year of operation the Trust has worked effectively with organised clubs to maintain the club facilities to a high standard. A longterm agreement has been established with Kimberley Miners Welfare Football Club, enabling the Trust and Club to apply for grant funding from the Football Association to improve facilities on the site. The Trustees have invested significant time on a major project to rebuild the existing football area pavilion, which is now complete. The new building is a brilliant new space for both football and also for the wider community, evidenced by the use of the facility in the early weeks of use and by the number of bookings by the local community.

The Trust has applied to the Premier League Stadium Fund to install new floodlights, new pitch side barriers, and to improve the drainage. Work on the floodlight replacement has started and the other two projects are expected to complete by summer 2026 The new pavilion is managed by the Trust and available for use by local residents for private use. Use of the Recreation Ground, maintenance and future planning decisions are made with reference to Public Benefit guidance, which is reviewed periodically at meetings of the Trustees.

The Trust does not provide any grants.

The Trust has a limited income so doesn’t have an investment programme. During the 25/26 financial year the Trust has benefited from HM Government’s Kimberley Means Business (Levelling Up) programme which is supporting investment on the Recreation Ground for the longterm benefit of residents.

The Trust has no employees. All time invested in the running of the Recreation Ground is done by volunteers, with the exception of day-today maintenance of the playground area which is carried out by Kimberley Town Council on the Trust’s behalf.

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

During the past year the Trust has:

Appointed 2 additional trustees.
Progressed the formal registration of the Recreation Ground site with the Land Registry. This remains with the Land Registry to complete.

The Trust ensures regular playground inspections are carried out and any required repairs to playground equipment is carried out in a timely manner.

The Trust has worked closely with Broxtowe Borough Council to deliver a new, energy efficient, pavilion comprising changing rooms for teams and officials, medical room and social facilities. The facility opened in early March 2026 and has been widely praised by local residents. The facility is being regularly used by Kimberley Miners Welfare Football Club, as well as local junior team Priory Celtic. The facility already has a significant number of bookings from local residents for events. Income from these events will be used to maintain the facilities.

The Trust continues to work closely with Broxtowe Borough Council and the Premier League Stadium Fund to implement new pitch lighting to meet FA standards, new pitch side barriers and to improve the site drainage, which will allow greater use of the facility. Work on the lighting has started, and work on the barriers and drainage is due to start very soon.

The Trust does not currently have a policy on reserves. The Trust has a Brief statement of the limited income from organised clubs, hire fees for events, and a support charity’s policy on reserves grant from Kimberley Town Council. The new pavilion will be used to generate income to be used to invest in the ongoing development and maintenance of the site.
