The space includes:
A children’s play area comprising play equipment and a grassed
area
A multi-use games area
A bowling facility including a club house
A football pitch, pavilion and changing facilities
A pétanque area
A public access footpath through the site.
Parking for users of the sports facilities
Clubs on the site have provided services to the wider community:

Annual Presentation events for more than one club take place in

Kimberley Bowling Club has offered free to enter trials, and
dementia-specific events
A free music event, Kimberley Jam, was hosted on the site
A free Party on the Park community event was hosted on the site.

The Trust has maintained the facilities on the site with the support of Kimberley Town Council, ensuring play equipment is regularly inspected, and repairs to all area of the Recreation Ground are carried out promptly. In its first year of operation the Trust has established use agreements with organised clubs, and for ongoing maintenance. In the future, the Trust intends to put more formal agreements in place with organised users of the site.

Considerable time has been invested in planning improvements to the football area, and during 25/26 work is planned to rebuild the existing pavilion in the football area, as well as improve the lighting, barriers and drainage on the football area.

The proposed new pavilion will be managed by the Trust and available for use by local residents. Use of the Recreation Ground, maintenance and future planning decisions are made with reference to Public Benefit guidance, which is reviewed periodically at meetings of the Trustees.

The Trust does not provide any grants.

The Trust has a limited income so doesn’t have an investment programme. During the 24/25 and 25/26 financial years the Trust has benefited from HM Government’s Kimberley Means Business (Levelling Up) programme which is supporting investment on the Recreation Ground for the long-term benefit of residents.

The Trust has no employees. All time invested in the running of the Recreation Ground is done by volunteers, with the exception of day-today maintenance which is carried out by Kimberley Town Council on the Trust’s behalf.

During the first year of the Trust’s existence it has:

The Trust has ensured regular playground inspections are carried out and arranged the repair of a number of items of playground equipment during the year.

The Trust is working closely with Broxtowe Borough Council to support delivery of a new pavilion in the football area, and is seeking to apply for grant funding from the Football Association to install energy efficient lighting, improved barriers and to fix issues with drainage on the pitch.

Section E Financial review

The Trust does not currently have a policy on reserves. The Trust has a Brief statement of the limited income from organised clubs, hire fees for events, and a support charity’s policy on reserves grant from Kimberley Town Council. When the new pavilion is completed, it is intended to use the new facility as a means of generating income to be used to invest in the ongoing development and maintenance of the site.
