Financial Review
The year to 31 May 2025 has been another challenging year financially for Liverpool Feds. We have kept a very close eye on expenditure and have managed to avoid some areas increasing with inflation by negotiating bulk supplier discounts and planning ahead. A good proportion of the income in the adult’s section came from a successful run in the FA cup which with the now increased prize money resulted in us taking away £23,000 (2024 - £8,000) this led to us being able to reinvest the money into the playing section and infrastructure needed to continue to compete at the elite level. Corporate sponsorship was down in 2025 however there are plans in place for 2026 to increase this in the off season and new initiatives are being introduced to hopefully increase the income here. We have maintained income from Grants and fundraising during the year, which is a real positive, as we know demand for grants has increased throughout the sector. Forward planning and timely applications are more vital than ever.
The charity received income of £97,440 for the year (2024 - £85,902). As mentioned above a large part of this increase is the result of the good FA Cup run. Expenditure during the year was £91,555 (2024 - £95,282). A large part of this reduction in expenditure was the greater focus on tracking all expenditure to budgets.
This has resulted in a surplus of £5,884 (2024 - £9,381 shortfall) for the year to 31 May 2025, and results in our reserves increased to £41,181 (2024 - £35,297.02). As an organisation we have been able to mitigate the inflationary rises amongst other cost increases in order to continue to provide football at all levels for all members of the community in Liverpool and surrounding areas. A longterm aim for the club is to establish a cash generating asset so that we can improve the sustainability of the club without being reliant on sponsorships, fundraising and membership costs. In 2025 the club obtained an SLA from Liverpool City Council for a site in South Liverpool, for 2026 there will be more investment and grant income in relation to developing this site to provide an asset for the organization. Strong financial governance from trustees and management, combined with continued growth in community and corporate sponsorship income will be critical for Liverpool Feds CIO to improve this position in what we expect to be a continued competitive environment in 2026.
