## **MARKET RASEN LIONS CLUB ANNUAL RETURN 1[ST] FEBRUARY 2024 – 30 JUNE 2025**

## **MARKET RASEN LIONS CLUB CIO**

## **CHARITY WORK**

The aim of Market Rasen Lions Club is to raise money locally for local national and International good causes as agreed by members of the Club.

In the period 1[st] February 2024- 30[th] June 2025 our charity work was as follows.

- Annual collection on behalf of Marie Curie in a local supermarket.

- Assisting a local refugee with her relocation to a permanent location.

- Assisted the local town with public events.

- Worked with West Lindsey District Council in the organisation and running of a book fair.

## **HOW WE RAISE OUR FUNDS**

- Our main source of income is through the sale of second-hand books. We have a permanent indoor stall where we sell books each Sunday. We sell our books at Lions and council run events in Market Rasen. In addition, we contribute to a local market monthly through the Spring/Summer as well as attending events as requested in the local area. We have developed a good relationship with many of our regular customers, enabling us to check their welfare.

- Our Club holds monthly quizzes raising funds through raffle and quiz entry fees.

- We hold an annual Gardeners Market and Craft Fair each June, raising funds through stall fees, homemade refreshments and donations.

- In conjunction with Town Council, we hold a Christmas Fair raising money as before.

- Our Santa sleigh through the town always raises much needed funds and a smile for all the children we see.

- At Easter and Christmas we ask local businesses to raffle baskets made up at Garnetts, the sweet shop.

## **DONATIONS**

- Biannual donations to Happy Hooves, a non-profit organisation primarily working with children and adults with additional needs and mental health challenges, using the positive interactions with both animals and nature.

- Biannual donations to Stardust, a drama group for young adults with additional needs. This group has been running since 2017, and Market Rasen Lions have been a significant contributor since 2018.

- Market Rasen Christmas Tree Fund

- Annual donations to De Aston School food bank

- Donating furniture and white goods to local families in need.

- Local football club for fireworks specially for those with additional needs.

- Sponsored local Explorers on their overseas trips.

- Salvation Army food bank.

- Annual donation to Market Rasen Railway station adoption group.

- Marie Curie Donation.

- Annual International Lions donation for overseas aid.

- Royal British Legion as part of the town Remembrance Service.
