The charity has a primary purpose to advance education, including physical education, the amateur sport of ice hockey for the general public by supporting the university and alumni ice hockey club known as the London Dragons Ice Hockey Club, which is operated by the UL Ice Hockey Trust (charity number 1209675). One of the charity’s trustees (Michael D’Aprix) is also a trustee of the UL Ice Hockey Trust.

The trustees have had regard to guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit. While no public benefit was delivered in the period because no funds were raised meaning that no grants could be made, the trustees’ activities in the period have been aimed at getting the charity on an operational footing, as further described in section D, so that the charity is able to deliver public benefit in future. In the period, the trustees received regular reports on the activities of UL Ice Hockey Trust, supporting the educational and amateur sports activities of which is the charity’s primary purpose.

The trustees recognise the need for and intend to adopt a conflicts of interest policy to manage conflicts arising from trustees’ connections with UL Ice Hockey Trust.
The trustees intend to adopt a grant-making policy to guide how decisions about grants are taken, once sufficient funding has been raised to justify grants being made.
