Governance and management
The charity is operated under the rules of its constitution adopted 8th February 2024.
Polential trustees are approached when they show a particularly invested interest in the
charity's development and ongoing growth. They are then voted in at a trustee meeting
by the standing trustees.
Objectives and activities
The object of the CIO is: for the public benefit in the East Midlands area, to promote
humane behaviour towards animals by providing appropriate care, protection, treatment.
rehabilitation and security for animals which are in need of care. in particular but not
exclusively cats and injured or ill wildlife and to educate the public in matters pertaining
to animal welfare in general and the prevention of cruelty and suffering among animals.
Public benefit ststement
The Trustees confirm that they have complied with the duty in section 17 of the
Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission's general guidance
on public benefit, 'Charities and Public Benefit,.

Feline and Wildlife Rescue Nottingham
Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit
Feline and Wildlife Rescue Nottingham rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes unwanted
and stray cats, and rescues and rehabilitates injured or ill wildlife in Nottinghamshire and
Derbyshire. If cats are too elderly for adoption or too ill to be rehomed, they will stay
within the rescue as long term foster cats.
The rescue tracks stray, abandoned, and unwanted cats through our Facebook and
Instagram pages and alerts from the public. We also liaise with other rescues on our
Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire borders to take in cats they do not have the rescue
space for.
Summary of the main achievements during the period
During this financial year we rehomed 147 cats through adoptions and rehabilitated 51
wildlife patients. This was our most successful year since the rescue began back in
2019 in terms of rehoming cats. Wildlife rehabilitations were down on prior years due
to a reduction in the number of rehabbers. We successfully paid all our veterinary bills
in full and on time due to ongoing adoptions and donations. We were awarded 'Charity
of the Month, by Zooplus in September 2024, which resulted in a significant donation
of cat food, litter, treats, toys and other miscellaneous items. We also received a large
donation from Omlet of beds and scratch posts. Several of our volunteers also carried
out fundraising activities, mainly tombola stalls, to raise further funds towards
veterinary bills.
Support in kind
Our supporters are very dedicated to the rescue with some contributing to vets bills in
addition to regular donations. We heavily rely on these donations to carry out work.
Financial review
Even though our financial position at the end of the accounting period was in surplus.
the funds would have already been allocated to vets, bills. The amount (£4,949) was
basically our reserve amount. In future years we would like to see a surplus on top of
the reserve at the year end. This would require more donations, adoptions. and some
grants. We were approved for Gift Aid during the period which helped our cashflow.
We aim to apply for grants in the coming year to ensure we build up a reserve of funds to
allow us to continue to support cats in our care. We will also apply to be a partner with
the Pets at Home Foundation for the upcoming year to boost fundraising and support.
Financial risks
The major risk we face is not being able to pay our vets bills if donations were to
suddenly stop or adoptions slow down. We would have to negotiate with our vets to
make payments in instalments rather than paying entire invoices.

Feline and Wildlife Rescue Nottingham
The charity's policy on reserrfes
The current Chair has instigated a reserves policy of £1-3k due for monthly vets, bills.
The reserves policy is reviewed monthly as our cash flow is unpredictable with
adoptions and donations.
We need reserves to ensure we can continue to provide a growing service to stray and
surrendered cats to enable them to make a full recovery before they go on to their
forever homes where they will be cared for.
