The Trustees present their annual report and financial ststements for Valv8rThafflil
Nilayam for the yeaT ended 31 March 2025.
Objectives and Activities
PrincipalA¢tivities
ValvarThamil Nilayam is established to advance education and promote the Tamil
language, culture, and heritage forthe public benefit. primarily within the Harrow area-
Rooks Heath Schoolcommunity-
The Trust's principal focus is on educational provision and community engagement
through stwctured leaTning programmes and cultural activities designed to preserve
and promote Tamil heritage while supporting the person81 and educational
development of children and young peopte.
Educational and Cultural Activities
Language Education
During the year, the Trust delivered weeklyTamil18nguage classes during term time.
supporting the development of reading, wrtting. listenin£ and speaking skills. These
cl8sses are aimed primarily at Ghildren and young people and are designed to
complement mainstream education while fostering cultural awareness and confidence.
In addition to in-person teaching. the Trust provided online Izoom-basedl lessons three
to four times per week for students preparingfor GCSE Tamil examinations. These
sessions focused on listening. speaking, and reading skills to ensure effective coverage
of the syllabus and to enhance examination preparedness.
MothematiC5 Education
The Trust also conducted mathematics 18ssons aimed at supporting students.
academic achievement and improving numeracy skills. During the year. the Trust
succèsthilly obtained grant funding specifically to support the delivery of these
mathematics lessons, enabling wider access and enhanced educational provision.
PertormingArts Education
The Trust also conducted classical performing arts education as part of its cultural
programme. This included:
Classical dance lessons in Bharatanatyam
Classical instrumental music lessons
These activities contributed to the preservation of traditional art forms. encournged
creative expression. and supported students. cultural and personal development.

Communityand Cultural Events
The Trust organised and supported a range of culturat and community events
throughout the year. including=
Saraswathi Pooja
Speech and Communication programmes
Graduation l Decoiation Day
Tamil and Pongal New Year Celebrations
Annualsports Day
These events provided opportunities for participants to showcase their talents,
cetebrate culturaltraditions. and engage meaningfijllywith the wider community-
Public Benefit
TheTrustees confirmthatthey have had due regardtothe Charity Commission's
guidance on public benefit. The activities undertaken during the year delivered clear
educational and cultural benefits to children. young people. and the wider community
by promoting Language proficiency. artistic skills. cultural understanding. social
inclusion. and community cohesion.
