2. Structure, Governance and Management
SPORT 4 SUCCESS is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) governed by its constitution registered with the Charity Commission. The day-to-day management of the charity is overseen by the trustees.
Trustees are recruited based on their alignment with the charity’s mission, relevant experience in education, sport, or community engagement, and their capacity to contribute to strategic decision-making. New trustees are appointed by majority decision of existing trustees, and onboarding includes a review of governance policies, safeguarding procedures, and financial responsibilities.
The charity also engages a network of volunteers and advisors who support the future delivery of its programmes and administrative functions.
3. Objectives and Activities
Having only recently been formed, during the year the charity focused on establishing a strong foundation to enable impactful delivery in 2025. This included developing strategic plans, building partnerships, and creating the systems, and environment required to deliver high-quality programmes to young people.
Key activities and progress included:
-
Initial outreach to policymakers, funders, and sports organisations to raise awareness the charity’s aims and explore collaborations for long-term impact.
-
Early engagement with strategic partners, to generate interest and explore potential future collaboration and support.
-
Creation of session plans with qualified professionals while keeping safeguarding at the forefront to support sustainable growth and programme delivery.
-
Established a volunteer network to support charity operations such as admin, marketing, and event planning, helping the charity build capacity during its early stages.
4. Achievements and Performance
In its first year of operation, SPORT 4 SUCCESS made strong progress in laying the groundwork for future impact. Although direct programme delivery will begin in 2025, the charity successfully established key building blocks to ensure its long-term sustainability and effectiveness.
Key achievements include:
-
Raising early awareness of the charity’s mission through outreach to policymakers, funders, and sports organisations, positioning SPORT 4 SUCCESS within the wider youth development and education space.
-
Initiating conversations with professionals and institutions across sport, education, and industry to build interest and potential for future collaboration, including with organisations such as Loughborough University, Bentley Motors, and Imperial College London.
-
Developing robust session plans and safeguarding structures, with input from qualified professionals, to ensure future programmes are safe, impactful, and aligned with the charity’s educational goals.
-
Building internal operational capacity by creating a dedicated volunteer network to support charity functions such as administration, communications, and event logistics.
Public Benefit:
Throughout the year, the trustees of SPORT 4 SUCCESS have remained mindful of the charity’s obligation to provide measurable public benefit. By focusing on infrastructure, planning, and safeguarding, SPORT 4 SUCCESS is ensuring that future programmes will offer inclusive, high-quality support for young people, particularly those in underserved communities - using sport as a powerful tool for life skills development and personal growth.
5. Financial Review
The charity is in a strong financial position with no outstanding debts. During the financial year, income was primarily generated through grant funding from Loughborough University thanks to the Skill-Up and StartUp fund, supported by independent donations. There was no outgoings as the charity is preparing for first programme delivery in 2025.
6. Custodian Trustee Holdings
The charity does not hold any funds as a custodian trustee on behalf of others.
