Financial Instability – We have not established any income stream/fundraising partners

External & Reputational Risks – changes in legislation, partner failures, complaints, or negative publicity.

Plans for the future
To begin to grow Safeguarding 1st, the aim is to make safeguarding knowledge easier to access and more widely understood by the people who need it most. The next phase of our work focuses on reaching more children, families, professionals and members of the community by offering practical, flexible ways to learn and recognise when a child might be at risk.
1. Creating Courses Schools Can Deliver Themselves
One of the biggest changes will be developing safeguarding courses that schools can run independently. Instead of relying on external trainers, schools will have access to complete ready-made packages that include lesson materials, staff training sessions, guidance for DSLs and tools to check understanding. This means schools can fit safeguarding education around their own timetable and staff availability, while still benefiting from high-quality, consistent content.
2. Working With the Wider Community
The charity aims to involve people in the community who may have contact with children, without realising they could play a role in keeping them safe. This includes:
-
hotel receptionists and housekeeping staff
-
door supervisors and security staff
5
- taxi drivers, leisure centre staff and other frontline workers
These groups are often the first to see when something doesn’t look right, but they may not feel confident or aware of what signs to look for. By offering short, accessible training, we can help them recognise concerning situations and know what to do if they’re worried.
3. Helping Parents Protect Their Children
A key part of moving forward is offering more support directly to parents and carers. Many parents want to protect their children but simply don’t know where to start— especially with the risks linked to social media, friendships, mental health and online activity.
We plan to run practical workshops, online sessions and simple guidance resources that help parents spot early warning signs, understand how to have difficult conversations and feel more confident about setting boundaries at home.
