## **Our Aims and objectives**
## Purposes and Aims
Our charity’s purposes as set out in the objects contained in the company’s constitution are:
- for the public benefit, the prevention or relief of poverty or financial hardship in and around Haringey, a district within the London Borough of Haringey.
- in particular but not exclusively by providing individuals in need with food at low cost and with support to enable them to find lasting relief from financial hardship.
- by providing grants to charities and other organisations working to relieve poverty or financial hardship.
The aims of our charity are to combat poverty in the borough by running our charity shop. These aims fully reflect the purposes for which the charity was established.
## Ensuring our work delivers our aims
The shop aims to reach out to local communities, provide a welcoming space, and to relieve the poverty and financial hardship of their members. The shop is able to direct direct people towards places where they can learn English and get help with everyday problems, like filling out forms, and so on. By running the shop, we provide a valuable service to people in poverty and financial hardship in disadvantaged communities by selling affordable clothes and household items.
Incidentally, none of the three trustees, nor anyone connected to them, was employed by the charity shop or benefited from it in any way.
## The focus of our work
After six months of research, we found suitable premises near Seven Sisters Station and restarted the charity shop in September 2025. It took more than a month to renovate the shop after we took the lease in July, as the premises were completely worn out. The initial cost is high due to the installation of new flooring, a glass shopfront, an electric shutter, shop signage and a kitchenette.
A part-time staff member was employed as the floor manager from the start to design the shop's layout and gradually place the donated goods in order. Our aim was to have regular volunteers during shop opening hours.
To celebrate the reopening of the charity shop, we invited supporters to an official Open Day in October 2025. Over 30 people attended the opening ceremony. Refreshments were provided for guests.
In the first two months, the community welcomed us as we are the only charity shop near Seven Sisters Station. Generous donations from the neighbourhood have provided the shop with valuable resources.
## How our activities deliver public benefit and future plans
Access to the facilities will be restricted to individuals who can demonstrate their financial circumstances and prove their eligibility for benefits, such as Universal Credit, Child Tax Credit, Working Tax Credit, Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance, Income-related

Employment and Support Allowance, Income Support, Housing Benefit, or Pension Credit. If the shop has a surplus, we will provide grants to charities and organisations that support those experiencing poverty and financial hardship in the local area.
## **Financial Review**
The company ‘Yeni Yasam – New Life’ was dissolved in 14 October 2025 after the charity registration was granted. There is no connection or relationship between the charity and the company.
The endowment of £15,000 from Evangelical Global Mission in Hong Kong was used mostly on the renovation and starting cost of the shop premises. We are grateful to have other donations from local churches and supporters to maintain the operation of the shop. However, the ongoing Russian-Ukraine war and the decline of economy growth in the UK will continue to have a negative effect on the retail market. We hope the shop can be sustainable as the sales improve in the near future.
## Reserves Policy
The reason for the absence of a reserves policy is the tight budget at the time of the relaunch of the charity shop. In addition, the endowment from Hong Kong is restricted to the purpose of reopening the shop and a particular donation of £1,000 is restricted for future employment of another part-time staff. The management committee will review the matter and implement a policy if necessary.

## Governing Document
Yeni Yaşam - New Life Charity Shop was registered as a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) on 24 January 2025. The CIO was established under a constitution governing the objects and powers of the organisation. If the CIO is dissolved, its members shall not be liable for its assets or responsible for settling its debts and liabilities.
## Recruitment and Appointment of Management Committee
The management committee consists of at least three charity trustees, as required by charity law and the organisation's constitution. The members of the management committee shall serve for an initial term of three years, which may be extended for further terms of three years. All members of the Management Committee give their time voluntarily and receive no benefits from the charity.
