Objectives and Activities
Our Aims
The aims of Playwam Preschool are to enhance the development and education of children primarily under statutory school age by encouraging parents to understand and provide for the needs of their children through community groups and by:
-
Offering appropriate play, education and care facilities, family learning and extended hours groups, together with the right of parents to take responsibility for and to become involved in the activities of such groups, ensuring that such groups offer opportunities for all children whatever their race, culture, religion, means or ability;
-
Encouraging the study of the needs of such children and their families and promoting public interest in and recognition of such needs in the local areas;
-
Instigating and adhering to the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage
Review of Activities
Playwam Preschool is situated at St Mary’s Parish Hall, Langham Road, Teddington. Playwam Preschool is registered with Ofsted and is a member of the Local Education Authority Early Years Partnership and the Early Years Alliance.
All learning is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which provides a firm framework on which the children explore, develop and learn.
Playwam Preschool ran 38 weeks of playgroup sessions of 3 hours 45 minutes per day during the academic year for children aged 2-4 years old.
There were 9 permanent members of staff during the period 1.8.24-31.8.25; 8 Early Years Practitioners and one part-time administrator/bookkeeper. 3 more staff members supply cover when required. The Playwam manager, Jenny Hunt, was on sick leave during much of 2025, and her position was covered by the Deputy Manager, Emma Ghuman.
The playgroup is an active member of the community, regularly contributing to and providing fundraising events.
