## **Introduction** 

The Trustees present the first Annual Report and Accounts of the Charity for the year ended 31 December 2024, following its registration as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) in January 2024. 

Following registration, although the Trustees were actively involved in the management of the Parish, most of them being members of the existing Parish Council,  no further steps were taken in 2024 to complete the establishment of the CIO and transfer of operations and assets. There was no Annual General Meeting of the CIO, the CIO did not open any bank accounts, there was no transfer of funds or financial obligations from the Parish to the CIO, nor did the CIO collect any donations. 

During the reporting period, the existing Parish continued to function  with substantially the same objectives as those of the CIO. 

We consulted the Charity Commission and were advised to present nil accounts on the basis that the CIO was effectively inactive in 2024. The CIO is therefore submitting nil accounts for 2024. 

## **Who we are** 

We are a parish of the Diocese of Sourozh. Our diocese, which was founded by the ever-memorable Metropolitan Anthony of Sourozh in the mid-20th century, covers the territory of Great Britain and Ireland, is part of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate). 

## **Aim and Purposes** 

The objectives of the charity as stated in its Constitution are: 

## _“A) to advance, for the public benefit, the Orthodox Christian Faith_ 

_B) to establish, maintain, and develop for the public benefit, a parish in Hampshire, to provide liturgical services, sacraments and pastoral teaching and care, according to the rites and doctrines of the Orthodox Church”_ 

## **Structure, Governance and Management** 

The Charity is a CIO governed by its Constitution. It is administered by a board of Trustees. This board comprises the five Trustees originally named in the Constitution, including three Ex Officio Trustees: the Rector, Deacon, Treasurer and Churchwarden of the ecclesiastical Parish – the Orthodox Parish of St Silouan of Mt Athos in Southampton of the Diocese of Sourozh of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate).
