as th¢ University of Bristol Free Church Chaplaincy.
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
ObJe¢tiv¢$ and alms
The University of Brisiol Free ClU￿¢b Chaplaincy Management CornmEttee 1$ an integrdl part of the Multifaith
Chap]￿]nCY ai the University of Bristol. It is recognised as an independenL but integral, part of the UniveTsity's Student
Support Services (al￿ also otTers support to University slaft) and operates as a partnership between the University and
LIKal Faith Communities.
The primary role of the Multifaith Chaploincy is to provide pastoral and spirit￿1 ¢ar¢ to all members of the University
Conununity regardless of their faith or background. The Mujtifaith Cbaplatncy C¢ntr¢ (located in a building wiihii] the
University precir]¢t) offers a unique space in the University. proiiding hospitality and wel¢om¢ io all. The Chaplains
also sttk to build up good relatioTtships with other parts of th¢ UDiversity, both iNiitutionally and iDfomwlly.
The Multifaith Chaploin¢y C¢ntTe is a safe place where ind]"vidual$ can explore aDd express their faith. This is achieved
by the Chaplain5 providing and facilitat￿ events, a¢tivilies, and iDterfaith dialogue. The Multifaith Chaplaincy Team
alsA) has a prophetic role in advising the Uniyersity and Students, Union on matters of faith. reli￿On and spiriti￿lIty.
The University of Bristol Free Church Chaplain works in partnership the Mujtifaith Team to deliv¢r an effectiv¢
Chaplaincy service ro the University of Bristol. Throughout thai period it ha5 been support¢d by tbe Bapiist Union, the
MethLyJist Chur¢h, and the Unittd Refornied Church from a mixtwe of national and local resourtts.

The ac¢ountS Show thai the Free Chuwh chap1a1￿Y was adequately tht)ded. Once #gain, the Chaplaincy is indebtcd to
the gencrosity and support of the BapTiSL Methodist and United R£forn￿d Churches for their financial support and
COTDmitmeiJt of time and other resour¢¢s (including payroll operation wa T)Thd81¢ Baptist Churcb) to the successful
upkeep of the Free Chw¢h Chaploincy.
Reserves poilcy
The ManageTrKnt Committee is scvtely aware of the sole reliance on its fimders for income.
If forany unfoTeseeable reason, planned fimding is wvailable to th¢ Manag¢ment Committee, it 1$ reco8ni5ed that costs
will need to bc covercd in the cvcnt of the ¢losur¢ of the Chaplain¢y. These include a three month notice peTiod for the
Chaplain and stathtory redundancy payn￿llts. Minimum reserve5 of £12,000 are Carn￿rked for this purrM>se.
STRUCTURE. COVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Governing docum¢nt
The association is controlledby its governing do¢wnellt, a deed oftrnst.
It was noted that the governance of thc University of Bristol Free Church Ch8plaincy Comtnittee would need to be
updated, to reflect changes in Committe¢ membership and renewed regulatory pressures ro become a re8iStered ¢lwity,
with the Chirity Cottllni5sion.
