## **Structure, governance and management**

Tarvin AFC is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). The charity's principal governing document is its CIO Association registered 19 January 2024.

## **Recruitment and appointment of trustees**

Trustees are appointed in accordance with the provisions set out in the CIO's constitution. The CIO seeks to ensure that the board of trustees collectively possesses the skills, experience, and diversity necessary to effectively govern the organisation and deliver its charitable objectives.

All prospective trustees are provided with information about the CIO's responsibilities and are required to confirm their eligibility to act as a trustee. Appropriate checks are carried out where necessary.

## **Objectives and activities**

The charitable object of Tarvin Athletic Football Club ("the CIO") is to provide or assist in the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants of Tarvin and the surrounding areas. In particular, the CIO exists to promote community participation in healthy recreation through the provision of facilities for the playing of football.

The trustees have had due regard to the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit when reviewing our aims and objectives and are satisfied that the activities undertaken during the year have met these requirements.

Participation levels have remained steady, with positive feedback received from players, parents, and local stakeholders.

The trustees are pleased to report continued collaboration with local schools and community groups, helping to broaden access to football and promote active lifestyles.

## **Financial review**

The CIO's principal sources of income during the year included membership subscriptions, match fees, fundraising activities, and donations.

Expenditure has been primarily directed towards:

- Pitch hire and maintenance

- Equipment and kit

- Coaching and training costs

- Affiliation and league fees

The trustees have ensured that funds are applied solely towards the charitable purposes of the CIO. The financial position at the year-end remains stable, with sufficient reserves held to meet ongoing commitments and ensure sustainability.

The trustees aim to maintain a prudent level of reserves to cover unforeseen costs and to ensure the continued operation of the club. The current level of reserves is considered appropriate given the scale and nature of the CIO's activities.

It is the policy of the trustees to have unrestricted reserves of at least £10,000 to cover any unexpected costs.
