Friends of Coddington School Year ended 31 August 2024 Trustees report

The trustees present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 August 2024. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standards applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019).

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Objectives and aims

The primary objective of the CIO is to advance the education of pupils in the school in particular by: (A) developing effective relationships between staff, parents and others associated with the school (B) engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school and advance the progress of pupils.

Public benefit

In deciding our objectives for the year and planning our activities, the trustees have considered the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit, including the guidance ‘public benefit : running a charity (PB2)’

ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE

Charitable activities

During the year the charity has worked hard to hold fundraising events to raise enough money to provide an outdoor classroom for the school.

The profit made from these events, along with a grant from Newark and Sherwood County Council means enough money has been raised to provide the classroom in the early part of the school academic year for 24/25.

FINANCIAL REVIEW

At the year end the charity had total reserves of £23,996, of which £15,056 were unrestricted.

Reserves policy

The trustees aim to hold at least £3,000 in unrestricted reserves at any time to ensure enough money is held to pay out for suppliers ahead of a large event.

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT

Governing document

The charity is controlled by its governing document, a deed of trust and constitutes an unincorporated charity.

Recruitment and appointment of new trustees

The appointment of any new trustee is at the discretion of the existing trustees and is subject to their unanimous approval. New trustees are chosen for the skills and enthusiasm they bring to the charity.

Risk management

The trustees have a duty to identify and review the risks to which the charity is exposed and to ensure appropriate controls are in place to provide reasonable assurance against fraud and error
