Governing Document:

The Vine Church Bristol is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO)

governed by its Constitution, adopted under the Foundation model.

Charitable Objects:

  1. The advancement of the Christian faith through the proclamation and teaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in accordance with the Statement of Beliefs.

  2. The prevention or relief of poverty by providing grants, items, and services to individuals in need and/or to charities or organisations working to relieve poverty.

  3. The trustees confirm that they have had due regard to the charity commission’s guidance on public benefit when carrying out the charity’s aims.

2. History and Background

The Vine Church Bristol began in 2019, when a small group of families started meeting in a home for prayer and fellowship. During that early period, several baptisms were held privately within homes, reflecting the close family nature of the church in its formative stage.

In February 2020 , the church held its first Encounter Weekend with 15 participants, marking the start of its ministry in Bristol.

The church initially met in a venue kindly made available by one of the trustees for worship services and discipleship meetings.

At that time, he was not yet a trustee of the church. He later joined the board of trustees after The Vine Church Bristol was formally constituted as a registered charity, ensuring full transparency and governance compliance.

When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, the church adapted quickly, moving to online gatherings and small group meetings. On 13 December 2020 , The Vine Church Bristol celebrated its first public baptisms , a milestone symbolising growth and perseverance.

In December 2021 , the church moved to Evangel Mission , a property owned by Light for the Nations. The Vine Church Bristol rents the premises from Light for the Nations and remains grateful for their flexibility and support as a landlord, which has enabled the continuation of regular worship and community activities in a stable environment.

In addition to being our landlord, Light for the Nations kindly provided a Welfare Fund , designated to assist families experiencing hardship. This generous support enabled The Vine Church Bristol to extend practical help to those in need within our congregation and local community, reflecting our shared compassion for people facing difficult times.

The rent increased significantly in 2024 , creating financial pressure for the church. To remain in the same venue and continue serving the community, the church sublet part of the space to help cover expenses.

Although rent remains a considerable burden on our finances, we continue to trust god for provision and sustainability, and we are grateful for the understanding of our partners.

3. Structure, Governance and Management

The Vine Church Bristol operates within The Vine Church Network, a family of churches across the world committed to advancing the Christian faith and serving local communities through Life Groups, training leaders and empowering every believer to fulfil their calling in their generation.

The church is governed by its trustees and supported by volunteer leaders who oversee various ministries including worship, Life Groups, children and youth work, evangelism and community engagement.

Regular meetings ensure accountability, proper use of resources and alignment with the charity’s objectives and vision to preach the gospel of grace and make disciples.

The trustees confirm that they have had due regard to the charity commission’s guidance on public benefit when establishing the structure and governance of the charity.

4. Objectives and Activities

5. Achievements and Performance (2022–2025)

2022 – A Year of Growth and Renewal

The year 2022 marked a season of consolidation and renewed strength for The Vine Church Bristol. After the challenges of the pandemic, the church continued to grow in unity and maturity.

This period laid a new foundation for ministry following the uncertainties of the previous years.

2023 – Strengthening the Foundations

The year 2023 was marked by discipleship, prayer, and the strengthening of leadership.

2024 – Expansion, Vision, and Multiplication

The year 2024 was a milestone year of multiplication and vision across all ministries.

The year 2024 was marked by both challenges and faith. A significant rent increase placed pressure on the church’s finances, making it difficult to balance ongoing ministry with rising operational costs. To remain in the same venue and continue serving the community, The Vine Church Bristol sublet the premises, which provided temporary relief while maintaining continuity in worship and outreach.

We believe that a dedicated space can play an important role in serving the wider community, providing a place for children and parents, for teaching and learning, for supporting families and those facing hardship, and for moments of gathering, care, and shared life. For that reason, the trustees hold a long-term vision that, should the opportunity ever arise, The Vine Church Bristol could own and care permanently for Evangel Mission, ensuring that the property continues to fulfil its purpose as a place of hope and service for the community.

2025 – Evangelism and Community Engagement

The current year marks a new wave of evangelism, unity, and spiritual maturity.

During our COUNT THE STARS CONFERENCE in Swindon, which gathered more than 300 people from Vine churches across the UK, we launched a joint plan to baptise 100 people at our 2026 Vine Conference, a vision of unity, revival, and evangelism that continues to shape our mission today.

On 3 August 2025, six believers were baptised, representing both youth and adults.

In June 2025, Impact united 23 participants for a weekend of outreach, and in November we will joint with The Vine Church Swindon for our Big Encounter Weekend with.

During October 2025, the church led a 21-day campaign of prayer and evangelism, focusing on equipping every believer to share the Gospel confidently.

The church currently serves approximately 65 people across five life groups (three for adults/youth and two for children).

Two annual fasting campaigns, together with regular Encounters with God, held separately for children, youth, and adults, as well as the ongoing Impact evangelism weekends, continue to build a culture of prayer, outreach, and intergenerational discipleship within the church.

The year 2025 has shown a stronger, more mature, and more united church, fulfilling its vision to make every believer a minister in their generation.

6. Welfare Fund Partnership and Community Impact

In 2024, The Vine Church Bristol received a Welfare Fund from Light for the Nations , to assist families in crisis.

Through this partnership, the church supported several families with direct aid for food, heating, transport, and rent.

The support:

We are deeply grateful to light for the nations for their generosity, which helped restore dignity, prevent homelessness, and bring hope to families in need.

This initiative reflects the heart of The Vine Church Bristol’s mission: to bring faith, hope, and love into practical action.

7. Financial Review

11 January 2025 :

All income was used exclusively to advance the charity’s aims.

The trustees aim to maintain a modest reserve equivalent to approximately two months of operating costs to provide financial stability.
